Whoops

As part of my CN tank hopper project <http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/25805> I was looking through my slides for detail shots of the brake piping.  My four year old "helped" organize them for me yesterday.  Note to self: don't leave slide boxes sitting on a chair...

Rocky Times on the BNML - Making my own ballast

Not much has happened on the BNML for quite some time,
but I had a chance over the past month to play with making my own ballast.

James Eager just passed away

Just got the news that James Eager just passed away. James was a frequent contributor to this forum, and he was a strong supporter of promoting the hobby through the Model Railroad Merit Badge program with the Boy Scouts.

James went into the hospital a few weeks ago with a lump on his colon. Turned out to be cancer and while starting a treatment program, the cancer spread to his brain. Sadly, James went downhill quickly and we lost him earlier today.

James also authored the cover story on the July 2013 issue of MRH.

Colorado Front Range Railroad update May June 2016

Well the fist 24 feet of the backdrop is painted. It only took 8 tries and a clinic from Paul Rising and watching a few hours of You Tube videos on painting techniques but it is done. This months video was going to be a long one so I broke it down into two parts. The first part is just on paining the backdrop. The second part is on an update for the railroad and showing the new logo.

Here are both videos hope you enjoy!

It's Aliiiiiiiiivvvvve!

Got the Crest system installed in the G scale GP7 today. To our great surprise, it all just worked:

Soo Line Solvang Subdivision Freelance Foyer Layout

After spending five years designing a basement layout of the NP's P&L line if MRL had purchased it, only to have to wait until home repairs (the kitchen sink is above the breaker box which is a major code violation) are complete, I couldn't just sit and wait any longer.  I want to build a model railroad with my nine year old son and this kitchen project is going to take years to save up for and complete.  The only other place I could think of was the dining room but my wife suggested the foyer.  What a great spot!
