The same day I finished the last update, I received the Grandt Lines smoke jacks in the mail. So this part we'll deal with the base roof assembly and installing the smoke jacks.

So first off I have a question as to why they are called smoke Jacks? If anyone knows out there let me know.

So first image I set the two roof halves in place and tacked them with some CY glue. The roof can be removable so I just glued the ridge together. This way you can add interior detail later and retrieve that derailed loco too.

Wow, yesterday was a great day for me.

I was scheduled to operate with James on Bob's WC Kimberly Sub in Winnipeg for the Evening. I had 2 client stops to make and otherwise, lots of time to wander. The first client for the afternoon happened to be near Emerson, so I checked in at Emerson on my way.

The siding and wye outside of town were packed in with mixed freight. Got some great photos for rolling stock. Nice.

Yesterday I assembled window sashes & the glazing, and this morning I did some wall assembly.

First image showing parts for windows and doors. The long windows have two pieces, the upper sash with a small frame where the bottom sash mounts, and the bottom sash. the parts have adhesive backs so it's peel n stick. I suggest assembling the two sash parts first then add the glazing.

I've managed to finish up the painting and start some assembly now. I also found a solution to hide my paint creep problem on the two tone paint job.

I'm still working on the two tone paint and I've tried some of the tips shown in the following pics.

First tip, I applied the tape and with the end of a paint brush pressed it down between the battens. second I applied a coat of the vintage white over the edge of the tape.

Next I applied the Green.

More Z Scale stuff

Wanting to get my skills into something small, I built a modified version of the famous NOCH 85880 Cortina layout in Z-Scale.
 
Since I primarily model in HO and did not want to invest getting into Z-Scale, I  acquired a lot of Marklin stuff in a barter deal from my friend, who was getting out of Marklin, for whom I design a lot of model railroad electronics and automation.

HO or N Scale billboard lights and bulk heads

I had a whole lot of IHC Signal target faces, since I make my own signals, instead of spending a fortune to but signals, so I put the excess target faces to some good use to make N-Scale or even suitable for HO scale billboard or flood lights.
 
Simply cut the target face to  a 1/4" square (HO) or 0.2" square (N) preserving the hood of the target, because this is what creates the appeal.

Z Scale billboard lights

A friend asked me to design billboard lights and am sharing here what I did for a Z-Scale billboard, he proudly mounted on his briefcase layout.
 
The billboard is from a laser wood kit, but getting the correct lamps was a challenge in Z-scale.
 
I decided to use the SMT 1206 type of led since I had surplus of these from making ditch lights for locomotives and other HO and N scale lighting applications.
