Modeling general discussion

Photo studio lighting
I finally got around to setting up some proper photo studio lights. Rather than building a separate photo booth, I decided to mount the lights on my workbench, tapping into the power that's already run for the main light.

What to do with an old computer motherboard?
So, I had just donated a bunch of old keyboards to the thrift store when I found a modeling article utilizing the keys as concrete footers for virtually any kind of structure. This article happened to be using them for a trestle... All I could do is sit back and say, "Dang, I threw out a fortune in model foundations..."
The other day, I was working a little faster than I should have and bent some pins on the chip socket for an old motherboard. Nope, not really worth my time to fix it...
Found 2 matching paints
I was working on a building for my layout-to-be, and happened on a useful discovery.
Humbrol water based acrylic color 131 (white) seems to be the exact same color as Floquil spray Base White Figure Primer, color 330021. I'll need to check it out under different light and see if it's the same; I'll pass it on as I find things out.
Another one gone
Ontario Northland train 698 pulled into Toronto Union Station at 1900 this evening, marking the end of mainline passenger service on the ONR. The Cochrane-Moosonee Polar Bear is still operating.

Layouts in shared spaces
This question is those that have some sort of layout in a space that is shared with other non-modeling uses. How is it working? Do you share the space with someone else, or is the space all yours?

A Ride on the Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington 2' Narrow Gauge Railway
A recent thread (this one) on modeling Maine 2' Narrow Gauge railroads reminded me that my wife and I took a ride on the Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington Railway in September 2010, and that I had shot quite a bit of video of that trip. So, I finally buckled down and edited the video into this 18 minute offering. I hope you enjoy it.

Floquil Poly-S Airbrush Thinner
I am curious if anyone has used this product and what their results were. I bought a bottle at the LHS and when I attempted to mix some Poly-S paint for the airbrush, using this to thin it a bit, the mix got all gloopy and chunky like curdled milk. I tried 3 different colors with the same result. Did I get a "bad batch" of thinner or doesn't this stuff work?
Thanks,
Peter
Truck for Diorama
I purchased Classic Metal Works IH R-190 truck and flatbed trailer. My intent was to add details (ie: mirrors, horns, mud flaps, etc.) to dress it up. What mfgr. makes the appropriate details? What tips/ teqniques do you reccomend.
Also. I purchased the Life Like Generators. I would like to put one on the trailer. Any ideas regarding blocking and tie-down?
