Modeling general discussion
Alan Wolfson dioramas
Just found this page depicting mostly New York dioramas by Alan Wolfson. While he does not seem to be a model railroader, his models are just amazing.

Jim Heiden's Milwaukee Road
I really enjoyed seeing the work he has done on his Milwaukee Road. I grew up in southwestern Montana and have relatives who worked for the Northern Pacific and Mlwaukee Road. As a kid I had the opportunity to ride in the cabs of the Little Joes all over the electrified line, all of the way from Harlowtown to Avery, ID. He has done a great job depicting the area from Alberton, MT to Avery, ID. Beautiful work. Miss the overhead cat.

Last Surviving Video of the DRILINE
This is probably the last surviving video of the Davenport Rock Island & Northwestern Railway shot at the Bettendorf Yard in June of 1995. This was RAW video shot by my photographers at WHBF-TV. I finally dug up my VHS copy and edited it to look a bit nicer. This is the railroad I model.

Dream railroad - throughout 2-story home - is it crazy?
I started my layout a couple years and two moves ago in an apartment (built in sections knowing we would move a couple times before buying our home). Now, my wife and I have moved into our final 'forever home', and we have talked about the railroad making it's way from the 'train room' through walls into other parts of the house (as shelf style in the other rooms, mostly.
Brass work--total novice needs resources
Can anyone refer me to a basic link on working with brass--cutting, drilling, etc?

Embarrassing Train Video
This video gives all train enthusiasts a bad name. Be honest. Is this you?
Looking for James Powell
Many years ago I was conversing with a chap named James Powell. He was building an HO layout called the Wiscasett,Travino and South Western. We both shared advertising signs etc and ideas. That was about 2003 and since then James sold his layout ,moved into making the coolest pet kennels and then onto theme park set design and manufacture.

non-pine trees please
HO scale- I'm extremely close to start scenicing my layout ala SE missouri and while there are some Pines of the long needle variety, mostly I see Elm, Larch, Maple and the like when I go there almost yearly. I need a way to model some at the front of my layout. The background bluffs I'm not too concerned about as there are numerous techniques out there (the puff-ball debate continues!). My fore-ground is an implied small-town scene, and there's gotta be some of these non-pines around the station and water tower (as per my reference photos) and around s

Can't find website of Fallen Flag Railroads
Now that I am deliberately looking for the website I can't find it. I usually find it by accident while looking for other information. It's a website that lists all Class 1 Railroads, and you click on each railroad, and it will show it's predecessor railroads, and what railroad it became a part of. It is several web pages and the railroads are all connected with railroad tracks. PLEASE HELP. I want to look up certain railroads to find if and how they are connected. Thanks. I have used Google for several hours now to no success!
