Modeling general discussion

An inexpensive alternative............
.........for weathering brushes:

I am looking for some info on.....................
.............oil columns and just how they got oil into the tender. I was not very successful with a Google search.
I have a PSC Oil Column model and it has a spout and what looks like a bottomless bucket hanging directly under the spout. It is way higher than any tender I have. No way could oil drop down into the tender from that height. Was there some sort of a big hose that attached to the bucket to get the oil in the tender?
Any info would be appreciated as I now need to build the fueling station for the engine facility.

Drywall as backdrop substrate
My brother is setting up a dedicated layout room. He would like to cove the corners with hardboard, and blend that into the (new) drywall as a base for his backdrop. I've seen posts that indicate that people have used drywall as a base for painted backdrops. Is it really smooth enough for that purpose?
Thanks,
Jeff

Litchfield Station Web site?
I've tried their site several times and continue to get an error message that their site's time has run out. Anyone know what's going on?

Ailene's Tacky Glue question
I have recently completed building a number of craftsman kits and scratchbuilt buildings, all using Ailene's Quick Dry glue, with great success. Now that I am starting to run out it, I am contemplating starting to use the 4 oz. bottle of Fast Grab.
However, I am finding the glue very difficult to squeeze out of the tube. It hasn't hardened; it is just very difficult to squeeze out. Does anyone know if I could add some deionized water to thin it out a bit in the tube?

In new location--looking for hobby shops and model railroad clubs--Northern Florida
I am settling into the Daytona Beach area, within reasonable driving range of Jacksonville and Orlando. I ma looking for good local hobby shops, and may be interested in joining a model railroad club. I model HO scale--trying to determine my era as yet--and will also be doing some HOn30.
I heard there's a very big shop in Tampa, that might be worth the nearly 3 hour drive--nut want closer places also.
Thanks!
