Messing around

I was messing around with my point and shoot camera. The picture was taken on my LVRR-Wyoming Division layout. This is bridge 121 in 1972, and a pair of Alco C-420's are eastbound downgrade after giving a westbound freight a bump up the mountain. The loco's are owned by my friend Joe Hueber, and my friend Gloria Streeter photo shopped in the the sky and clouds. I can't wait until November when I celebrate a milestone birthday and receive a DSLR camera. That should allow better pictures...

telephone,etc wires over tracks

We all know poles and wires follow tracks, especially in rural areas.  What are the common heights for when they cross over the tracks (in towns and such)?  Is there an NMRA standard for that?

Cheyenne Depot Station - Completed!

I just finished building Cheyenne Depot Station. This scene is now complete.

I kitbashed the Milwaukee Station kit into a backdrop building. I still need to finish the scenery around it, and add details to the station, like signs, people, etc.

The prototype

MiNi Mod-U-Trak - High Wheeler 2013

The High Wheeler train show was at Harper College, Palatine IL this last weekend.
An excellent N-scale modular layout called mini mod-U-trak was on display there.
I took these pictures on Saturday.

Model Railroad on Prime Time TV

Did anyone else catch this weeks episode of Two and A Half Men?

Alan goes to live with Herb and finds out Herb is a big time model railroader.

First Sheldon on Big Bang Theory and now Herb on Two and a Half Men. Both are produced by Chuck Lorre, I wonder if Chuck is a model railroader?

Its that time once again to post your model railroad pictures.

Wireless camera

I just bought a new Sony DSC-WX80 with built in wireless modem. I was always forgetting to upload my pictures at the end of the day and because my railroad is in another building I would not have easy access later in the evening when I typically find the time to work on my website and such. Now all my pictures pop up on my SkyDrive and I can get to them from any machine on my network. It's a 16Mp camera with a Carl Zeiss lens and it takes beautiful pictures. Here's one from today:

Negotiation of space in the home for our hobby

Obviously, layouts and modelling work requires space. Most layouts are made to fit the spatial constraints where they are, be this in a spare bedroom, loft, garage or shed. Modelling work can be rather messy at times as well as requiring some concentration.

What are my options for a compressor?

I got a deal on a Badger Patriot 105 airbrush--dual action, gravity feed, internal mix.  It wants 10-15 PSI.  What is the least expensive compressor option, and what should I look for.

(It came with paints, an Athearn Hi-Cube boxcar, fluids, and an airbrush holder.)

I didn't get a compressor then because Springfield had eaten all my money...
