Latest video - Layout Update #6 MRH PODCAST! Cool Stuff/Wiring/Touch Toggle Controls

I thought some might enjoy our latest video

In this video we install wiring, turnouts and Touch toggle controls in a budget based picture frame panel. We take a few minutes in our "Sidetracked" segment to explore and share the work of others and provide info on how to get to the latest MRH PODCAST to which we participated in.

With some much needed humor, we cover a variety of interesting topics related to wiring, turnouts, turnout controls via the use of Barrett Hill Shops Touch Toggles and more

Enjoy and have a great weekend, Joey Ricard

Weekly Photo Fun - October 14th to October 20th, 2016

Awesome work everyone last week!  Time to start this week's photo thread!

As always, we get as much out of your in-process photos as we do the highly polished "all done" shots!

Helpers or No Helpers?

Looking into modeling my own freelanced railroad set during 1945-1950. My line will run from Houston, Texas to the fictional town of Benton, New Mexico where it connects with Eric Brooman's Utah Belt (as well as a north-south route from Laredo, TX to Oklahoma City, OK). Through this connection, my line (thinking of calling it the Texas Great Western) will help form a bridge route from the Gulf of Mexico to the Pacific Coast via the Utah Belt and Western Pacific.

Some fabulous modeling here.

Not strictly railroading, but the results shown here have to be appreciated:

He appears to model mostly in 1:25 scale.  For more information about Willem Bor and more of his modeling works, go to his blog site:

Wiseman Models--any feedback?

I see that Wiseman Models (www.locopainter.com/) has an assortment of 1920's vintage trucks, and a static HOn3 locomotive.  Has anyone built any of these; the trucks are right for my time.

Thanks!

Freight cars getting longer--what did industries do?

How did industries manage when they wer configured for 36' cars, and the railroad started using 40's?  And later, when 50 footers started coming along?  It sure means that it's not possible to simply drop 4 cars off at the loading doors any more.

A "critical listen"... sound and model trains at a show

This past weekend, I attended a train show. It's that time of year again, and this was one of the early ones in our area.

It's been some time since I've had the opportunity to really get into a show and see everything I wanted to. This time, there were fewer quality vendors than in the past, so I determined to spend some time really examining the layouts.
