Using Saran Wrap for Loco Protection

We are joining the migrating crowd. More on that later.

I have starting packing and want to use Saran (cling plus) To wrap around some locos that will be going back into original boxes with a foam lining. Once all our goods are loaded into a moving van they could be in for some extreme heat and or cold.

Anybody aware of any side affects by using Saran Cling Plus up against brass and or plastic shells with a factory applied paint job?

Thanks, Jack

Publishing Costs

First and foremost, I am not bashing any publisher. Secondly, I am  not griping because of a price point per se. I am however looking for information about how some printed publishing occurs for some peace of mind. I apologize for the wall of text.

Forum Decorum

Over the last few days, one member of the forum has been coming under attack from more than one other member.

Please stop.

If a forum member seems too abrasive or you feel is intentionally "trolling" to stir up controversy, send a note to the forum "abuse" email address and let the moderators evaluate and deal with it. Posting a personal attack against them really isn't the way to go. It diminishes enjoyment of the forums for many of us, as well as perhaps having a suppressive effect on the conversation as a whole.

Shopping list for a novice weatherer... anything I really need?

Okay, so I've been into model railroading for a while now and I want to give weathering a try now.  I have no weathering experience, and my budget is limited.  I want to model the transition era.  I'm trying to find any simple, inexpensive, realistic techniques and the supplies that are necessary.  So, in other words, I'm asking for help putting a shopping list together.wink

Train songs radio show tonight 6 July 2020

Tonight from 8 to 10pm my friend Marc Miller's weekly radio show "Spam & Grits" is featuring train songs.  So, if you're like me and have trouble naming more than five train-themed songs, you might like to give it a listen.

The station is WRFG 89.3 (Radio Free Georgia in Atlanta, Georgia) and you can listen on _ wrfg.org _.

Below is part of Marc's email announcing the show today:

History Trails

I love history. History and Mechanical Engineering were my double majors in college. I was reading a book about covered hoppers and how thay have changed during their lives and I came across the mention and short history of Southern's " Big John " hoppers. Like any great internet search/trail of breadcrumbs that somehow leads you to looking at the set of slicin' n dicin' Ginsu knives, I soon was reading about how Southern's marketing plan got the ICC involved and then how that court case radically changed some facets of railroading in America.
