Here's one for the experts:   What, if any, are the long-term differences between a finish applied with a solvent-based paint and a water-based paint?  The question came up during a smelly session in the basement spraying some ancient toluene-base square bottle Floquil?  I can spray either type successfully, and am not interested in the relative ease of application and clean-up -- just the result on the model.

At question:

Is the final paint coat thinner with one type or the other?

Why does the Roseburg mill in Weed, CA haul logs several hundred miles with CORP to their mill in Roseburg,OR?  I know it takes something like 200 trucks off I5 every week but why haul them in the first place?  Why not process them at the mill the start from?

A friend sent me this video overnight and it's a pretty amazing thing to watch.  For those with sensitive ears there are a few F-bombs thrown in there but it's worth a watch!

Mentor model railroad museum in danger of closing

  • I don't normally post this kind of News But I have visited this Museum a couple of years ago and it's something more of us could maybe help them with as it is a prime model railroad establishment that is really needed to help continue the hobby

Anyone know if something is wrong at White Rose Hobby - DCC Installed? Placed an order a month ago. Still shows procesing in my account history. I sent messages and called but no email replies, no answer phone, nothing for 3 weeks after repeated attempts to contact them.

Delray Beach, FL Trip

So I'm headed down to Delray Beach, Florida in June and was wondering if anyone has any ideas of what I can do around there train-related.  Any good hobby shops in the area?  I'm not afraid of taking the Tri-Rail to other areas but I'll have limited time to do so.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.
