Modeling general discussion

Latest Video - Intro to our new project layout
I thought some might enjoy seeing our new project layout get started. This video is only an introduction to the general theme and flavor. We will cover all aspects of concept, design and construction in future videos. There are a lot of "trains" of thought on layout design and you can surely discuss anything you wish. There are a lot of variables and reasons to choose certain layout styles and in this project, we are creating a small "super detailed" spin off of a classic design. More design ideas and criteria will be discussed in the next video.
Neil's Deerfield Yard Module
I'm hearing through the grapevine that Neil made some changes to his Deerfield yard module. Neil, if this is true can you tell us what you did and maybe post some pics?
Thank you!

Best Online Hobby Retailers
Hi all - been reading the magazine for a while and just became a subscriber. I live in the middle of nowhere as far as the hobby is concerned. I can go to Tulsa, OK (dicey), Springfield, MO (franchise), Branson, MO or KC for modeling supplies. The closest of these is an hour and 15 minutes away. I know, I know - there are a lot of us in that boat.
Weekly Photo Fun - June 4th to June 9th, 2016
Awesome work everyone last two weeks! Time to start of this week's photo thread!
As always, we get as much out of your in-process photos as we do the highly polished "all done" shots!

James Eager just passed away
Just got the news that James Eager just passed away. James was a frequent contributor to this forum, and he was a strong supporter of promoting the hobby through the Model Railroad Merit Badge program with the Boy Scouts.
James went into the hospital a few weeks ago with a lump on his colon. Turned out to be cancer and while starting a treatment program, the cancer spread to his brain. Sadly, James went downhill quickly and we lost him earlier today.
James also authored the cover story on the July 2013 issue of MRH.

Coming soon to the Richlawn RR - a new (very old) loco
It's an Atlas HH660 loco! The L&N only had one - the one (No. 10) pictured below. I got it from ebay and will install a DCC decoder (also shipped & on the way). I'm planning on using it in my little yard to assemble trains to add a little operational interest. Because of its advanced age in the 1960s and 70s I also eventually will weather it to look old and worn out. Photo from RRPictureArchives.NET - image contributed by Gary Everhart.
Cab07
I would like to show you a picture of my new Cab07. I just recieved in the mail yesterday. I was always partial to the Cab05 speed buttons and I wrote to NCE suggestion box and they replied that a Cab07 was available.

Corrugated siding or roofing with laser?
Here's a question for the laser users. Is it possible to laser scribe scale corrugated metal for walls or roofs? I need to make a large tin building and am thinking that gluing many tiny sheets of siding is going to make it look too busy or exaggerated. I was thinking a wall or roof with more subtle scribed corrugations might look better as well as be less trouble to construct. Anyone had any experience with this process? .....DaveB
Scratchbuilding a truss bridge
Anybody ever scratch build a Warren truss Bridge? Or know where some actual dimensional plans might be? I am good at scratch building but not without plans. I know what types of styrene shapes I need but not how many nor what dimensions. I have googled the topic and found a lot of websites but none that actually have a drawing showing exactly how to do and what specific materials are needed. So if anyone has a link to someplace that I can go to, that would be great.
