Photo Lenses question for model railroad photography
Hi all,
I am considering getting my first dslr (or possibly a mirrorless). I am interested a lot in scale model photos and layout photos using a tripod, and decent (budget conscious) lighting. I have been reading around in the last few days and i am a bit confused about a few things.
With respect to lenses that come with dslr bundles, are the typically offered 18-55mm up the job? Do i need something like 18-140mm or 18-105mm etc? I am having in mind a Nikon D5300 with the aforementioned bundled options for lenses.
Weekly Photo Fun - April 7 - 13, 2017
I don't see a thread started for April 7-13, so kicking one off. I recently finished weathering an SD70ACe. I've been learning new techniques from the military modeling community. They have created a lot of specialty products that directly improve our ability to weather trains. I'm found AIM and MIG products very helpful.

Floquil Crystal Cote
Greetings All!
When I was living in the USA, I bought a heap of Floquil paint in a range of colours to suit my needs. Also, Floquil was heaps cheaper than what I used to pay in Australia. Anyway, one of these jars of paint was "Crystal Cote". It is obviously a clear finish, but what I don't know is whether it is a gloss, satin or flat finish.

Where to post?
Hey all,
Where would I post a thread about the design and construction of my layout? I have posted on other forums as well,, but I grew tired of some of those.
Ideas,, thoughts?

Urban details
Now that my switching module has the track laid and tested. I've moved on to carving the cobblestone streets out of joint compound. So I'm looking for some details like manhole covers and sewer grates. Does anyone have any experience with or feedback on the following manufactures?

Paint pens that work graffiti
I bought a pack of these Molotow acrylic paint pens after hearing about then reading some good stuff on them. They work great on freight cars. They have a bunch of colors and different size tips. I bought this basic color pack for around 27 bucks but well worth it. Just started playing around with them and they look great sorry the pic isn't aligned right. Definitely worth checking out
