MRH Magazine general discussion

Paying For APPS
Joe, If you think its OK to pay for apps that are creating profit form other sources then I guess it will not be to long before we pay for MRH.
Interesting idea. Do you now see my point. The app is making revenue form a couple of other sources but still want me to pay and without me they have nothing.

I've been quoted in "Building an affordable Rolling stock fleet" by Joe Fugate
I was very surprised and pleased today to open the November edition of the magazine and see one of my articles quoted by Joe Fugate on pages 86-87.
Thanks Joe. I really appreciate it.
I've been working on a longer article including modelling the 40 footer, to correct some of the errors on some of the cars, and the types of industries that used them. Not all of them appliance industries.

Lack of Patience!
I look forward every month to seeing the latest MRH magazine. I know, I am addicted to the publication. However, usually there is a prerelease on Saturday for us forum visitors. Will there be one tonight, Sunday? Just wishing!!!!
siskiyou line question
I understand that because of the many demands on Joe and staff's time, i.e.: show appearances, e-zine deadlines, etc. the Ops sessions have been temporarily interrupted. What I would like to know, and it would make a neat article, is if Joe and crew have had any time to do any scenery progress on the line. I really like Charlie's updates on progress on the BCSJ, and would like to see something on the Siskiyou Line. A loyal fan, John Colley, Port Townsend, WA
Building on Borrowed Time
Howdy All, I've been reading MRH for almost a year now and have only recently started posting. That's simply because I don't have much to say for the most part and I enjoy sitting back reading what others have to say on topics of the greatest hobby in the world... model railroading!
DCC For Frugal Beginners
I am seriously considering a DCC set up for a new layout I'm currently working on however, I'm very old school when it comes to all of this modern day technology in the hobby? Also being very frugal (not by choice) in my abilities to enter into the world of DCC operation, would it be possible to get what is needed to start this project for $500 which would include one DCC equipped diesel locomotive??? I know that's not much when it comes to funding a DCC operation but, I'm told I can get a complete starter set for roughly $200 and the left over $300 should buy

http://news.yahoo.com/newsweek-magazine-stop-printing-digital-2013-11592...
Just saw that Newsweek will stop all print and be digital only.... for a fee on a subscription base. I was surprised to see they didn't mention if the rate would go down

Renew Model Railroader
So my MRM subscription is expiring. I am considering not renewing because of MRH. I am able to find the same information in both, and MRH is free. When I am looking for something specific, I start with the advertisers at MRH. So I think I am going to save the $42 and put that money towards my railroad and continue to get my info from MRH. Thanks for being free!!!!
