Welztalbahn: Emsingen one week later
My previous blog entry showed were I started a week ago. I took the segment outside to document the current state.
This shot is impossible to do once the segment is installed in the layout. We're standing "in" the roundhouse and look North towards the freight shed.

Tortoise wiring
I was reading some other posts about wiring and I was wondering if anyone else uses Bullet Splices to connect wiring.
I wire up my Tortoise switch machine at my work bench and crimp on the female Bullet Splice. I then install the Tortoise under my layout. I drop down the wires from the track and frog, crimp on the male Bullet Splice, and simply plug the two together.
I then use my tester to make sure the crimp has a good electrical connection. No soldering under the layout, simply crimp, plug and play.
Iphone Speakers for Steam Engines - Question
I know some people prefer the iPhone speakers to use in steam engines for DCC sound.
Is there any version of the speakers which are better than others. Such as the speaker for an
iPhone 4S vs iPhone 6S. And where is a good place to buy them.
Also what are you using for a speaker enclosure.
Is there anything I need to know about wiring them?
Sculptamold, Hydrocal, Plaster of Paris, Joint Compound? What to use over pink foam for mid-western "flat" scenery.
I need a durable and lightweight top coat over pink foam and plywood to capture midwestern scenery that is mostly flat with small hills, cuts, and fills. No rock castings are needed and workability in the future would be appealing vs. tearing scenery up and starting from scratch. Which would you recommend and why?

Tiny Rail
We are working on a model of the sawmill at Cass WV. It had a bunch of push carts that ran around on very very small rails. Looking at photos the rails where only a couple inches high. Anyone know how to simulate this?
