Hardboard backdrop around basement concrete walls

I hope this isn't a duplicate -- it seems similar to others I have seen here but not exactly the same. I am building an around-the-walls layout in my basement. I have all of the benchwork in place (L-girder) but nothing in place for backdrops. Fortunately, (?) there is not much scenery or even roadbed in place in most places.

S-Curves

Why would someone build a yard ladder like this with several s-curves?

TMTV TOMA Project layout progress sneak peek

Starting in January on TrainMasters TV, the new TOMA Project Layout series!

The layout is coming along nicely and we will have it on display in our booth at the Amherst Show this coming January. We're modeling the modern day Vermont Railway, and it's turning out to be a total blast.

Here's a few sneak peeks ... these scenes are not finished, but they're taking shape!

3 rail diesel service facility

I'm looking for a source for sanding towers, fueling stand, etc., that will service 1-2 tracks on a small Lionel layout with modern day diesel locomotives.

LokSound Select Direct Decoder...

Hi guys,

I'm about ready to try out a couple of the LokSound Select Direct replacement decoders in our newly purchased Athearn RDG GP39-2's

I've chosen these over the TCS WOW Sound decoders as LokSound has the specific sound files for a GP39-2 that can be loaded, and they have the same new features as the WOW Sound with manual notching.  In fact LokSound have all of the locomotive sound files for our entire roster too.

Small depot in urban/industrial environment

Hi,

For a future modeling project, I'm looking for prototype photos showing a traditional, e.g., rather small North American depot building in an urban or industrial environment. Does anybody have some pictures or suggestions for links?

Roofing Help

AR Tower Roofing

Hey everyone, been a while since my last post.... I imagine everyone is busy also. I wanted to ask the group for some Roofing suggestions on my AR Tower project. Shown are a molded shingle on the garage and the tower has add on paper shingles. What has the better look?

Thanks for the input....

Ops in a Granite Quarry?

Hi,

Context: My main interest in the hobby is... actually doing videos of model trains. Run-bys are always cool but I like participating in operating sessions and now I'd like to start doing some videos of ops that pretend to be at least not totally unrealistic. Unfortunately that desire is largely dampened by my lack of knowledge of prototype operations.

Herniated Dodecagon Helix

The most recently completed helix on my layout was constructed as a "herniated" dodecagon.
