SL2-M1
Joe, I have a couple of questions about your new module sections: 1. How are you going to do roadbed and track to isolate from the structure? 2. Have you done tests to see how it will sound? I really like the concept so far but am curious as to whether it will resonate badly. John Colley, Sonoma, CA
Creepy Water
A question regarding the various "water" products - the stuff we use to "pour" to make ponds, lakes, harbors, etc.....
Over the past 2 dozen or so years, I've used Envirotex (and Envirotex Lite) numerous times, all with good results and wouldn't hesitate to use that product again.

And the Helix rises from the ground...
So today I managed to get the first full ring of the helix completed. It’s now in place and again I have checked it’s location relative to the fascia edge, and checked it’s position & alignment with the existing entry point & new exit point to staging.
Working on the DFC&T Engine House
After 2 months of the front wall sitting around, I finally decided to start work on the engine house for the narrow gauge. Unfortunately, I didn't take photos of the other walls being constructed.

Starting to work on my Pacific Electric interurbans
Today, I sanded down the flash on my Miniatures By Eric Pacific Electric 1100-1149 interurban and 1445-1449 Box Motor. I noticed that I am missing the steps below the freight doors of the freight motor, and it looks like I can use Micro Trains baggage car steps. I have sanded down the flash and I have been working on the castings for the 1100, and plan to start gluing everything into place. I have ordered a pair of Tomix chassis to power these.

DCC Question
Having made a switch from HO to N scale I have 2 choices of control. First off I have 5 locos picked up over the last 20 yrs. Kato 2-8-2, Life Like S1 or S2 Both date from the late 90's. Kato U30 about the same age, Mantua 2-8-2 fairly new I believe, and an Atlas SD7? age unknown.
They all run ok on a Tech 2 power supply.
I also have a 20+ yr old Digitrax system that seems to keep on working also. Can I use the Digitrax with these locos without killing the motors or is the Tech 2 a better choice?

Building the first SL2 module
I've started building the first Siskiyou Line 2 module section. Given this is the first one, it's something of a prototype and I'm making some mistakes with it. But overall, it's coming out pretty much as expected (and hoped).
More in the next post!
"1952" Photo of Narrow Gauge
I haven't posted for awhile. So I decided to share this modified image I made from my smartphone.
(The reason for not posting was because of taking a short break from model railroading)
