Funicular Railways - More about Los Angeles Angels' Flight

In my earlier topic, "Funicular Railways - Out of Curiosity", a reply stated that Angel's Flight still existed in Los Angeles just off I-5 between San Fenando Valley and West Los Angeles. That did not sound quite right, since I had just a few months or so back looked up info on the web about it. Well, here is a little more info on it.

The railway was relocated, but only a short distance from the original spot. In relocating it, there was extensive modifications made to the original design, although the original cars retained there names: Sinai and Olivet.

Repairing Walthers P2K with QSI sound

I have one of the first phase GP9s that Life Like sold with QSI sound right before they were bought by Walthers. It ran great for a couple years, but now the sound works, but it stopped moving.

I could buy another decoder for it, but I wonder if anyone here has had any experience sending it in to Walthers for repair? There is nothing on their website about servicing P2K equipment, and I am waiting to hear from one of their customer support folks.

grab irons (i hate them)

any ideas on how to make the task of installing grab irons easier? I have slightly enlarged the holes, i use a magnifier. Still, this job doesn't get any easier.

Will Gloss Medium work for creating water on top of plaster?

Before I learned about using masonite board and gloss medium gel for creating water, I built the walthers pile trestle bridge and poured black colored plaster in and intended on using envriotex to cover that.  Instead of using envirotex though, I would rather use the Gloass Medium Gel instead.  Will that work with plaster for the same effect?

Thanks again!

A Finished Slate

My wife says I don't listen but to prove her wrong I listened to your comments. I cleaned the slate and started over trying my best to take into account all of your advice. I went back and re-read my books and studied track plans from the paper magazine. The result is a much simpler, more build-able track plan that fulfills all of the G&D's. Does this look more like a realistic approach?

BTW I have it built in XTrackCAD also so I am sure the turnout angles and such are workable. As a matter of fact it utilizes mostly #10 turnouts. How sweet.

Northeast Fallen Flag RPM

Attended the NEFFRPM this weekend, very nicely done for a great price which included an Italian lunch buffet.  If anyone is in the NJ area next October, they should really stop by!

Funicular Railways - Out of Curiosity

Just wondering (my sister and brother-in-law were in the Pittsburg PA area awhile back and visited one) - has anyone you know of modeled a funicular ("funny peculiar" ? - no, it really is a term applied to inclined plane railways). The one they saw crosses over the Allegheny Mountains. Here is a link to one information rich page:

Designing my next layout.

1. Can anyone tell me what is the track center-to-center distance on the Walther's Double-Track Truss Bridge, # 933-3012?

2. Does anyone have a track plan for a small port?
