GMDD Wide Cab (MK 4013) / Fred Barkhouse GP38-2W

Guys,

Stan Sienicki took photos of our GMDD Wide Cab (MK 4013) and Fred Barkhouse's GP38-2W.  Hopefully these images show the subject a lot better than previous posts.

I'll also attach images of our container decals, DS 00052/DS 00053.  The containers were built by Evan Kayahara.

We are at Naperville this past weekend, had a great time.

Questions on N-scale double track

I'm planning a closet layout with Atlas N Code 55 track.  There may be double or triple track on the curves - 11.25", 12.5", and 13.75"R.  How close should these be so that long passenger cars do not touch the adjacent trains?  And, what size steam locomotives will/will not manage on these curves?  I'm guessing 2-6-2 is probably about my size limit, but a 4-8-4 would be nice.  Tell me like it is, thanks.

turnouts

Question? I have to turnouts that work fine in one direction, but if i run the trains in the opposite direction they will derail most of the time. I am using a Bachmann train set in HO scale. They are electric turnouts.

I am looking to put operating rotary beacons on my Athearn Genesis F units. These are sound equipped with the older MRC decoders. Any one have any suggestions if this will be programmable with the mars light feature?

Thanks, Thomas

HELP! Single mainline vs Double mainline

I'm planning a HO layout in a fairly large space 18' x 35'.   There is some bonus space adjacent to the room that can be used for helices.  The prototype is the Milwaukee Road in the transition era and the location is rural Wisconsin just west of Milwaukee.  Doing my research, I see that the track was double track at the time (it is single track now CN and sees at least one train an hour).  My plan is to have staging above the layout and have two decks that go around three walls of the room with two towns per deck.

New MOW offices in Montpelier

The Central Vermont received new MOW offices and warehouse space in Montpelier.

The local super was so pleased, he ordered  all the trucks cleaned and polished up.

I think I heard him mutter "take that, Fithers," under his breath....

Weathering Clinic Using PanPastel Artists Pastels

Rob Manley gave an entertaining and riviting clinic at the Naperville RPM this afternoon regarding the use of PanPastel atrists painting pastels as a weathering medium.  Appears the product is better than weathering chalks, with excellent adhesion and control qualities.  Understand PanPastel will be creating weathering kits targeted to the model community soon.
