Thank you Jappe!!

I just wanted to thank Jappe for introducing me to oil paints for weathering. They are so much more controllable and predictable as compared to acrylic paint. I think the big difference is the slower drying time.

Thank you, Jappe!!!!

Sperry Rail Car

While searching thru a storage cabinet in my office tonight I came across my Sperry Rail Car that I bought

about 5 years ago from Walthers, I had completly forgot that I had bought it. While looking thru the papers

that came with it it states that you must lubricate the gears and motor before using it.Does anybody out there

Grimes Line Update

Finished up most of the scenery between Hickman Road and Millard Lumber on my IAIS Grimes Line layout.  This is a heavily wooded area on the prototype and I wanted to best simulate the tree tunnel found along the line.

Best,
James

Using Spline Roadbed in Helix

I am in the process of rebuilding my N-scale layout in a dedicated out-building (interior space 15'3" x 24'11").  The out-building is heated and air conditioned.  The layout was previously in a large room in my house but had to be torn down to make room for family (kids & grandkids).  That layout was an N-scale version of Bruce Chubb's original Sunset Valley but with an ATSF flair.  The concept for the new layout is blending some of my old one with some of CHuck Hitchcock's previous ATSF Argentine Division but in a freelanced fashion.

Kanamodel structures

Anybody had any experience with Kanamodel CP or CN structures?

Benchwork for the G&AM is complete

I've done it: the benchwork is complete and 65 lights have been installed. Now I can start cutting plywood. We will see whether my track plan survives the contact with reality.

A bit of a decoder puzzle

I am a bit puzzled about which decoder one of my engines should take.

Its a Kato EMD SD45 (CP 5494)

According to TCS and Litchfield Station this should take the K1D4 decoder but when I open the shell I have a split board configuration and the engine is clearly not "drop in" ready. It looks like a CN-GP would be more appropriate.

Did Kato release a non-DCC version of the SD-45 way back when. If so, has anyone converted it to DCC?

Thanks

Monsanto Company

To All: Monsanto company was a major industry in E. St. Louis in the 1960's. It was a producer of herbicides, animal hormones and agricultural seeds. I scratch built the silos and hopper loader for this industry. I have to add another siding and office building to the site. This industry is located next to the PRR's Rose Lake Yd in Terra Haute, Indiana on the E. St. Louis Rail Group layout.
