Locomotive spinning its wheels
I have an oval in my office where I run an N scale train. I have 27 cars and 2 identical Bachmann GP40 locos running back to back. It's been running mostly fine for a while but today the lead loco started stalling and spinning its wheels when it came to one curved section of the flat track. So I know it isn't an electrical problem. I turn the power up and it just spins faster. I cleaned the wheels of the locos and it doesn't make a difference. The track is all the same, so not sure why it's picking this particular section to have issues.

how much of a layout can one Uno based DCC++EX system power
Just wondering, how much of a layout can one Uno based DCC++EX system power?
My layout has two levels, each level has a 37' long BUSS. Plus the quarry style helix is 48" x 48" x 18".
When I get all the N scale locos DCC chipped and programmed. I will have 16 non-sound steam locomotives on the layout.
Starting a session, there will be a total of 6 locomotives on 4 staging tracks. And 10 on spurs around the main yard turntable.
Wrecks, everyone loves a train wreck.
Wreck on the Copper King Mine railroad. Larry Sax father worked on the Bull gang they did heavy repairs on shovels and trains around the mine, so we have many pictures of wrecks at Bingham Canyon mine. Correction the last wreck was at D-Line bridge not G-Line as said. Pictures from the Larry Sax collection, utahrails.net.
New Bachrus Speedometer?
I have been keeping an eye out for the Bachrus Speedometer for years. I was about to purchase one when they stopped making them. I have had no luck finding one, at all.
Do you know where one can be purchased?
Lacking that, do you know how to make one?
Other possibilities: is anyone in the process of taking the Bachrus design and reproducing it?
Thanks!
Mike
Ideas for weathering
First of all, I'm 82 yrs old. Lazy. All of my equipment has never been weathered. Until recently. I had burned some incense and found that the ashes, although all grey, were very fine. So I saved them until I had enough to play with. I dabbed a finger in them and patted the sides of some gondola cars. Looked OK. Dabbed some on the inside/floor. Looked OK. Using a small brush, dabbed the trucks. The total effect is obviously, very light. And if you handle them, the ashes come off. Also, if you get too much on, just blow the excess off. All this is totally simple and easy as can be.
NJ International Block Signals
Hi,
Could anyone assist me with some informtion on block signals. I have two NJ International Bi-directional D Type block signals, one being 28 ' high and the other 15' high.
I'm trying to find out under what circumstances they would have been used in relation to their height. 28' seems quite high, not quite signal bridge height but higher than a dual head interlocking signal.
Any assistance appreciated. Thank you.

LED Strip lights for multi-deck layouts
The subject of LED strip lights for layout use comes up a lot here so I wanted to pass along a few notes on the now-completed lighting on our Sugar Pine Lumber Company layout.

San Francisco Hamm's Brewery
Anyone out there that is old enough to remember the Hamm's billboard on to of the San Francisco brewery? I would like to model the Billboard in 3D with the glass of bear at the top. It is my understanding the the lights on the glass would light to make it appear that the glass was being filled with beer. I am going to attempt to model this but don't know the exact sequence.
Did the lights come on from bottom to top then stay on for awhile then all go out at once and start over? Or was there some other sequence.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
