C630M

Well, my day was going great and it got even better when I got home and found that my CP script C630M had arrived. After carefully opening the parcel things went south pretty fast though.

A Solution to a Problem Mk2 : Elephant Tracks

Dear MRH team,

Looking for a DCC-based Solution to the following Problem...

- a larger layout, club-based, that is regularly used for public shows.
- already DCC-operated (NCE, with primary radio/fallback tethered throttle buss, if that matters)
- there is a double-ended staging yard at the rear, feeding both ends of the "modelled scene"/mainline

- there are 5 "parallel tracks" in the yard

Shinohara 3-Way

Any advice on wiring and prepping a code 70 Shinohara 3-way switch for DCC use?  A wiring diagram/instructions  would be particularly appreciated.

Detailing Lampson Yard

The continuing yard detailing project.

Yard ladder.  I added fine ballast to represent walking ballast, as well as weeds:

The tracks themselves, get a rust wash along the rail and a grease wash down the middle, along with weeds and spilled lading.  The orange ties represent the clearance points for each track.

car float

Hi everybody

I'd like to build a little layout to represent a New York pier but unfortunately the car float and the apron car float by Walthers are retired; so, I'm looking for plans or drawings or pictures and I will try to scratchbuild them. Can somebody give me a little help?

thanks a lot for your attention!!!!

Onboard coupler clank sounds from freight cars

Hello all

Is there any products out there that would allow for coupler clank sound effects to be generated from within a freight car automatically?

Hand laid rail

I will be hand laying all of my rail (I enjoy the process) and years ago used Homasote for my roadbed. I have read the thread on using homasote and gained good advice. However, only one place in Reno seems to handle homasote and they only want to sell to contractors. In the homasote thread, a product called fiberock was mentioned and I wonder if it has worked for anyone.

So my question is what would you recommend for roadbed when hand laying rail?

Thanks,

Gary

Design advice needed (N scale, urban switching, freestanding, but shelf type)

I'm a widower (with all grown children) who will be moving someday.  Eventually, I hope to build a fairly substantial permanent railroad that balances passenger and freight service in the heavily traveled Northeast region.  This is my second attempt to get back into model railroading after decades of absence.  (First effort was a port-themed section of the larger vision designed professionally.

Wiring Advice

All track work is complete except the West End yard which should be done by the end of the week. Now comes a choice and I need some advice.
