CN Longview Sub update
Folks,
With the summer months, progress on the layout as slowed, however some things have been done. I've installed some of the bench work above the north staging yard. This bench work with support what will become Cochrane yard. As of now, the main and passing siding have already been laid in to the yard, as well as a turnout for a single passenger track. A power bus line and sub-roadbed for the track has also been installed.

Non-Sound Decoder for Genesis GP9 - Done
My Athearn Genesis GP9 just showed up at the LHS today, so I need to get a non-sound decoder for it. I've seen a few posts and videos on the subject on various other forum sites, and I do have one friend who messed around with some things getting his decodered some time ago. I didn't find a totally clear solution.

N-scale DL-109 Converted to DCC
This short video is of the new 2013 Walther's/Lifelike N-scale DL-109. It has been upgraded to run in DCC with a hardwired Digitrax DZ-125 decoder. This engine is a re-release of the previous 2006 edition and is not DCC friendly (as everyone thought it would be since the HO version was re-engineered to be DCC friendly) thus requiring a hardwired installation. I did not perform the install myself but had a professional do the install at the cost of $30 plus shipping/insurance. I provided the decoder.

3 truck Shay
I purchased a Bachmann 3 truck Shay a while back. I not run it much but today when I tried to run it only a couple of the wheels were turning. After some inspection I seen that all but 2 of the gear connected to the wheels were broken. Has any one else had this problem. If so how did you fix it. I contacted Bachmann but I have gotten a reply back yet.

A GM 25 (E.M.D. type E 8) to be turned into a bar
Just for something different..!!!
A publican ( an ex train driver) in Bendigo, Victoria ,Australia has purchased a E-8 look-a-like known locally as a GM 25 and is turning it into a bar for the beer garden of his hotel. It seem like a good modeling project for old E or F type loco's.
Here is a link with video to the web page (from the Bendigo Advertiser newspaper)

Cool video!
MODERATOR EDIT: Changed from a link to direct embedded video.

Cork Roadbed...Has It Changed?
I'm having a difficult time deciding on what I'm going to use for my mainline roadbed. Originally I was going to use 1/4" Homabed. I've got a bunch of their 1/8" roadbed for sidings, etc. but even though I really like it, I decided not to purchase any more of their product.
Then I figured I'd just make my own Homasote roadbed but I'm having second thoughts about that now because it just looks like it would be a PIA to make.

A Tsunami that has become separated from its packaging
I have a Tsunami TSU-1000 decoder which has had its packaging misplaced (don't ever open one until you are ready to install it!). It is a steam decoder but I don't know which flavor (I have several but not even a process of elimination will help me here). I've looked at the definitions for the various CVs but I haven't found anything that would help me tell which model this is.
