Why is it so hard to buy a Loco
Here I am, cash burning a hole in my pocket, wanting to buy a new loco and..... Nothing nada zip nil stocks everywhere I look. I confess my needs are a little specific as this will be my first brand new loco. Specifically, it must be either Atlas or Kato as I want a quality performer. I also want to install my own sound decoder and speaker as I don't fancy the factory installed options. Finally it must be either CSX YN3 or undecorated.
Multiple industries on same spur track
I guess we all have them, multiple industries on the same spur track, where we need to move cars being loaded or unloaded to spot another car. How common is this on the real railroads? Did the prototype have to secure the load somehow before the cars were moved? Or is this a mostly a modeling concept, and the real railroads do everything in their power to avoid this?,
Thanks

LED Layout Lighting Test Drive
I’ve been running a test of the LED strip lighting from LED Wholesalers. I’ve got a double deck layout under construction. I purchased 1 16-foot strip of the 3100K temp lights and a second 16-foot strip of the 6000K lights. I cut the 16-foot strip in half and mounted the resulting 8-foot strips side-by-side on a 1-3/8 x ¼ strip of hemlock.
How useful is a dremel tool?
Hello,
Sometime in the next year I'm hoping to start tackling this building (http://www.flickr.com/photos/5632/6288237868/in/pool-1793636@N21/) With my birthday and Christmas coming up I was considering asking my family for a dremel tool. I figured it would help with cutting all those large windows. Do you have any advice when it comes to purchasing a dremel tool? Would that be the best way to cut all those large windows?
Thanks a bunch!

Inspiration, introduction & monday night mail train
For any one interested in reading my little news letter "The Monday Night Mail Train" it should be attached to this post for a short while.
splitrock323's comment on my last post has inspired me to try to share information about my layout and its operating system.
Firstly I am a 69 year old retired ice manufacturer and live in South Australia with my wife and two Jack Russel terriers. We have two grown children and two grandsons.
