Trackwork

How common are crossovers on industry sidings?
I see the following schematic quite often in layout plans and was curious as to how common they really are in real life? I've never seen one personally. I'm sure they exist.
Although the following is harder to switch, I tend to see these more, especially if the track has been around longer than 30 years.
Frustrated with painting rail.
I have painted and weathered a lot of rail over the years, but for some reason I can't make paint stay on my peco code 83 rail on the edge of the head above the web of the rail. I cleaned the rails like I always do and tried floquil oil based and non oil based paint and pens, but still no success. However painting the ME code 70 rail's head edge, it stays on.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Spacing tool for parallel mainlines?
I'm curious what folks use to maintain consistent spacing between parallel mainlines - tool, eyeball, straightedge or ???
Thanks.
3rd PlanIt Demo
Help! I just installed the 64 bit demo version of 3rd PlanIt (ver 10) and there are no libraries on my computer. Is this a limitation of the demo version, or did the install fail? Any help is appreciated. Thanx.
newly in HO-code 70?
Good day modelers! I have a question. May be an answer in here already but I haven't found it. Anyway, recently made switch from N to HO. (perfect eyesight 5 years ago has degenerated rapidly) I loved N but my recent switch and subsequent planning for a switching layout has brought me many new possibilities and decisions.
Going to use code 70 or 83 rail. Any opinions? My question, specifically, will most modern RTR rolling stock and locos work on code 70 and/or 83 rail?
Opinions - Central Valley Tie Strips
Have any of you laid track using Central Valley Tie Strips? If so, would you do it again? I'm seriously considering them for my new layout. Looking for advice from anyone who has. Thanks

Blue Point Turnout Controller for Two Switches at Once?
Is it possible for a Blue Point manual turnout controller to move two switches at once? I have a crossover between mains and I'd like to use a single knob on the fascia to move both. I'm writing because it appears not but I thought someone may have actual experience with one.

Articulated crossing gate with signals
Once again I reach out to those who know. I would like to add N scale articulated gates and signals to these crossings.
does any one know of a any commercial units or would I have to scratch build from components. Also who sells the decals for the RR crossing painted on the road.

guess what I found
Saturday I drove up to my LHS and picked up an Atlas #2752 custom N line #6 switch. Funny thing I never noticed that on the bottom of the package in bold white letters on black background "made in the U.S.A." I thought all atlas track items were made in China.
I need crossing angle help
Hi I have googled and searched all the forums and cant find the answer.
I want to build a crossing for #7 switches but cant find out which template I should use. I say #7 because that's what the free-mon group wants as minimum.
What angle do I need for crossing
Thanks
