Locos - Rolling stock (general)
Virtual RPM
Virtual RPM (RPM = Railroad Prototype Modeling)
Here's a thread to share your prototype modeling. Share completed and in-process models that reflect prototype locomotives, rolling stock, structures, and scenes. This is open to any scale, just as long as the modeling is following a prototype.

ONW Box Car recommendations (w/ construction photos)
Since my local LHS closed in 2014, I've been to a hobby shop only a handful of times so not too up on what's available. I've also not paid a lot of attention but was wondering about mid 1990s era box cars. In particular, this one in a photo I took in early 2019 in the eastern end of the Gorge in Washington:
Best rolling stock brand
If money was not in the question which brand would wish to buy for rolling stock?
AMB GM&O caboose kit assembly
A friend asked if I would assemble an American Model Builders Gulf, Mobile, & Ohio (GM&O) caboose kit for them. This blog will show the process.
tsunami version 1
Ok so I just put a tsunami v1 in a rsd 12 the other day and an nce dasr in another rsd 12. I am trying to speed match the 2 but the tsunami even though having a 0 start voltage, a max voltage of 10 and a mid range of 1 is still light years faster than my dasr equipped one. Nothing changes how it crawls(it does not really crawl at all starts off at like 5 mph). How do I change this so it crawls slower and can get it to match with the rest of my fleet of locos. Or is this doomed to be the one oddball. The tsunami 2 i have matched everything nce dasr equipped pret
RADIO CONTROL FOR N SCALE
RC or Radio Controlled, It will eliminate track cleaning, save lots of wiring problems but no one seems to know anything about it. I understand all about the batteries and controllers from model airplanes and drones. You don't need dozens of batteries for dozens of locos, they charge relatively quickly or you can have a few ready to place in the loco if it goes down. Why is this a secret? Can anyone fill me in on the process of converting?
Displaying my engines and rolling stock
I putting some photos of my new project. Displaying the trains and rolling stock. (in the lounge room)
Thought I'll start a new thread as the other one was going in a different direction.
For my display I hope to use Led light strips with dimmers 3 altogether, 2 cool light ones and a colour one at the back.
Greetings!
Hello everyone! This would be my first post! My build is a small switching layout serving one customer. Thought I’d share a photo of a CP box car I weathered. Waiting to be swapped by B&M switcher LA-1 local, set in the late 1980’s in Lawrence, Mass. I’m still in the scenery fase and working on other details in between but I definitely need to get started on a backdrop cause it’s hurting my eyes not seeing one lol...Anyway hope everyone enjoys! And Happy modeling!
Fitting MicroTrains trucks to Model Power N Scale 40' cars
I have just come back to N Scale after many years away. My first purchase was of a Loco and some freight cars. The majority of the freight cars turned out to be Model Power. Their knuckle coupler doesn't seem to couple easily to Atlas locos. Hence, I went and bought a stock of MicroTrains trucks - Bettendorf 1003-10.
Now I get to take the trucks off one of the cars, I find that there is nothing in the MicroTrains pack that will fit the hole in the bolster. Can anyone advise the best way forward?
