Locos - Rolling stock (general)

Some NdeM/FNM roster pics

Hi everyone. I'm enjoying a few easter days off, and I have taken some pictures of some of my custom painted locomotives.

Most of them are craftmanship of Juan Aguilera, the equivalent of George Micklus in Mexico City. Juan besides being a superb modeler has been also one of my best friends for almost 15 years, I just wished he could have some more time to paint & decal the rest of my locomotives in a faster manner.

Passenger consists

Passenger consists.

I am in the process of putting together a modest ( money sucking barely alive ) passenger train for my transition era pike. I am looking for some thoughts on what sequence to run the cars in. Obviously the baggage and RPO are head end cars and an observation would bring up the rear. But what about diners coaches and pullman sleepers. Any thoughts about how these would normally be arranged.   Thanks.

Steel Mill Transfer Cars

Had a chance to sit down and build a couple transfer cars for my steel mill. Sill needs to be weathered, but over all I like how they turned out.

Dear Mr. Walthers,

Dear Mr. Walthers,

I just bought a CSX track cleaning car ( http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/931-1752 ) and on the box it is listed as a 40 ft box car.

But once you have it on the track hooked to a 40 ft box car.....your car is much shorter, by almost 1/2 inch. The track cleaning car is almost the same height as a gondola car.

I can not  complain about the cleaning abilty, as it works great on my track.

Uneven Wheels - lesson learned!

There was a recent post (that I could not find now, so posting this one) that indicated the front right wheel on Athearn's SD75I was running a bit high. I had an issue with my unit running so I took a look and sure enough, that specific wheel was almost 2mm higher than the following axles!  You could see the bend in the electrical pick up plate with out putting a straight edge to it. It ran ok on straight track and looked solid on the rails but in curves or some switches the wheel would ride over the track. Never would have imagined this was the issue.

Railway oddities

Came across the following site, strange prototype railroad items. At least worth a laugh!:

White Pass & Yukon Shovelnose Diesel

Does anyone know of a model of the Shovel Nose GEX3341 Class 92 Diesel

www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php

I hope to get over the mountains and visit the White Pass & Yukon - maybe this summer, the good Lord willin' and the creek don't rise.

I would love it in N Scale, but O would do (my Christmas Layout is On3) and even consider a G for the day the track finally makes it out into the backyard - or I negotiate right of way through the recreation room.
