Pacific Harbor Lines Shelf Layout Build
It goes like this: I want a model railroad. I'm going to build one.
Annoyed about purchase (and slightly confused)
Ok, so Scale Models - (the company Joe was advertising recently) has offered a 12 container set (53' containers) and I was able to get my order in in time (just barely) and they have 12 different numbers. The containers are for the company I work for, so they are a must!
Weathering with Mike Confalone: Project 8-CN pressure-diff hopper
For his last project, Mike Confalone weathers a light gray CN pressure differential hopper. For this car, Mike starts with some oil wash flood weathering and then moves on to more specific weathering methods to match a prototype photo. Finally, with this last car complete, Mike runs a train around to enjoy all the weathered cars set in some finished layout scenes on the Allagash.
Next up - volume 2: Weathering diesel locomotives.
My Mikado has Returned
I recently had to send my Lionel Mikado back for repairs to the smoking unit. All of a sudden stopped smoking. Lionel was great about it. They tried to help me via email first for several tries, but no luck. Finally I sent the unit off to them and with a quick turn around they fixed the problem -- even though my engine was out of warranty. Great service. In any event she's back and up and smokin' so I made a little video of her travels, if you care to see it.. She's running on the top level of my Tombstone Southwest railroad layout.
How much do the parts of a freight car truck weigh?
Anyone know how much the individual components of a prototype freight truck weigh on average? Wheels (33"/36"), axles, side frames, springs, etc.? The reason I ask is that I've seen many dioramas where the builder scatters such parts about with no regard to how they might end up there given it might take a small football team to lift them. Likewise in models of locomotive/car repair shops where I worry about the weight bearing limits of the shop floor...
Athearn Flywheels
Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone out there would know a easy way to remove flywheels from a worn out engine so I can use them on a new engine? I can also use some advise on installing the flywheels as well. Thanks
Mack 15 t in HO
Hi all!
I started a new project yesterday.
A Jordan 15 t Mack!
I looked at the previous builds of it on various foras, and it seemed to be difficult to get a good drive for it.
Unless you bit the bullet and ordered the Hollywood foundry drive.....
I saw that the wheelbase was 24.5 mm, and that jogged my memory. I remembered that I had a Tenshodo motor boogie with that wheelbase!
