MRH Website general discussion

Calling all authors!
We're burning through our article backlog quickly now that we're monthly.
We need articles! Consider:
- The easy route - do a one-evening project. 500 words, 8-12 photos - good for $120.
- First Look - Do a deluxe product announcement for some newer product. 500 words, 1-3 extra good quality photos, click-n-spin or video clip if possible. Good for $120, or $200 with click-n-spin/video clip.
- Short how-to - 3-4 pages on some modeling project or technique. 1500 words, 8-16 photos - good for $200-$250.

Question On Posts
What is the difference between the red "new" and the blue "New" on the right by the replies?

Done but with errors on page.
Think every page of the MRH forum has the above message in the status bar. If the message is not there there is an exclamation icon with the the Done.
The Windows IE 8 progress does complete and the window appears to be correct but I was just wondering...

What happened to the Download Page for Extra Content for Back issues?
There used to be a page that had the extra content available for download. I had a system's crash, and lost many folders because I neglected to back all of them up so now I have lost all that data!! I see where I can download the embeded versions of MRH but is there any way to retrieve the extra content that was available?

ATTENTION! Marking a legitimate subscriber as a spammer
NOTE: This applies to our deputized moderators primarily. Mere mortals (regular subscribers) marking a post as spam does not delete any thing.
Unfortunately, it looks like one of our deputized moderators marked a legitimate subscriber - Tom Wilson - as a spammer. As a result, all of Tom's blog postings got deleted. Ouch!
We realize the spammers can be a problem (still on our todo list is to totally block the common spam source countries of China, Russia, and Pakistan), but try to be more careful!

Automatic login
Hi,
since we have the new forum every time I visit this page I have to log in again. It doesn't remember me. How can I change that?

MRH and BLIP TV one of the better ways to View our Videos
I noticed a web page Joe has put up for Friday Movies and thought it should have a post of it's own.
So far there are 9 pages with about 12 MRH Videos on each page. I spent about 40 minutes watching these Videos and thought every one should chech them out.
Click the following URL and it will take you to Blip TV It's Free !

Need Model Railway Show archived episodes
Hi,
A while back I discovered the Model Railway Show (http://www.themodelrailwayshow.com/). This is a short, focused, very well produced podcast. I highly recommend checking it out. Its what I use as an example when I play train podcasts to muggles. I still enjoy the other, less structured podcasts.
Anyway, I came upon it late and did not get the first five episodes before they were archived. Does anyone out there have these that I may get from them? It would be much appreciated.
Chris

Can MRH create a "ITEMS NEEDED/WANTED" Secition?
Not sure if it should be treated like a "For Sale" Section, but with all the increased users, it would be a great service for MRH Subscribers to have a section where Subscribers could make posts for items that they are looking for that a simple GOOGLE search, or going to ebay comes up empty on. For example there is a specific Video I am looking for that hasn't been for sale in Hobby Stores (online or at the local ones in WNY) for quite a few years now, and is no longer produced by the maker. I keep a look out on Ebay for it with no luck.
