MRH Website general discussion
Photo backdrop height - important consideration
Decided to create a separate post concerning photo backdrop height.
Great to see/hear regular discussions of photo backdrops and just how much they can elevate a scene.
Just a quick reference point. Of all the photo backdrops I've done for the Allagash, none have exceeded 8 or 9" in height. Most are in the 5-7" range, and that is for Maine's mountainous terrain. For flatlands, I'd opt for even lower backdrops.
MRH Constant Logouts
Any one else having a problem get logged out? Seems over the past week MRH Website will not keep me logged in. Getting set to make or reply to a post and I'm logged out again.
Seems before I could be logged into MRH for weeks without having to log back in every 30 to 60 minutes. Still running the same old window PC in same old Google chrome. Nothing has changed other than constant log out.

N scale: Code 55 vs Code 80
For those who are in N scale, what do you prefer using code 55 or code 80 rails ? Pros and cons ? I am asking because I am planning to make an HOn30 layout. I am going to hand laid the tracks and before buying the rails I would like to get opinions from those that have experiences using the above tracks.
Thank You

Assistant Editors exciting news and sad news
As everyone is well aware there are times in our lives where we find ourselves at a cross roads in life. A decision must be made involving choices that are not always pleasant. My wife and I had three small business, one of which was struggling and losing money. In September we came to one of those cross roads when God gave us an opportunity to close the business and get out of the remaining term of the lease, which we did, vacating the site in two weeks.
Philosophy of changing major scales
I posted this over on the Proto 48 list serve, but wanted some thoughts from people here in MRH that have had major shifts in their modeling scales over the years.
First off, I've modeled in HO, N, and large scale over the life of my modeling career. Without further ado, here is my rambling and thoughts.
Hello group,
I've been following Gene's blog for a few years now about his adventures into P48 and thought I would join this group and get some ideas/opinions.

Vector Cuts
Does anyone know what happened to "Vector Cuts"? I have several of their kits and detail parts and wanted to order more, but the web site is down. Did someone buy them out, or did he just go under?
Thanks,

Reference an Individual (specific) Posting on this forum?
How does one make a reference (link) to a specific individual posting on this forum?
I've had trouble with this every since I joined this forum. There are no individual numbers associated with a posting, and I can't seem to figure out a way to make a specific link to an individual posting
TrainMasters membership gift certificate
Hi,
Is there a way to ask for or give gift cards/certificates for any of the fine model railroad hobbyist products?
