Operation and maintenance

Intermodal Routing
I was just wondering how people who operate a lot of intermodal traffic on their layouts route their intermodal equipment? Especially when it comes to connected car groups like the Husky stacks and "Fuel Foilers", etc.
Do you simply have a car card for each car or group of cars or does anybody route the containers/trailers and then provide cars to carry the containers/trailers to there destinations?

Getting closer to operations
Unless the sky falls I'm about 3 months away from being able to do operations on the Richlawn Railroad for the very first time. I'll have probably enough area / switching to engage three operators. I've belonged to an operating group (North Country Interchange Operating Group - NCIOG) for about a year and we're all either in the building stage or in my case have an operating railroad, but no switching opportunities. One of the guys in our group (of 7 guys) has an awesome layout and is also working on trying to do operations.

How hard is to derail a real train?. Found this WWII OSS training video at:

Not that easy...
Compare JMRI Operations Program to other options
I am thinking about switching from 4 cycle car cards and waybills, which I have used for years, to train manifests and switch lists generated by JMRI's Operations program. I am seeking recommendations and/or comments.
Need help to develope operations
Howdy folks, Well I've made a layout that is based off of a real working companies track layout in my area from back in the 1950's but I'm having trouble developing operations for this so I'm asking you all for help. I will explain what the tracks are and how they were used.
Rules?
Hello All,
What are some of the "rules" you have on your layout when you have visiting friends over to run at your house? Are there operation written rules or just verbal "this is how I would like it done" ?
Like I was thinking, one engine per cab so not to have too many running around, and always reset your switch after you use it..stuff like that. any ideas?
Thanks
Ernest
simple operation reading
Hi Fellas
I know this has been asked many times before but is there any reading material for simple operations for "dummies". I've been reading around but having a hard time of grasping.
Thanks for any info

Switch List Templates
Hi All-
I'm getting ready to host my first op session next week and I would like to have blank switchilsts on hand for my operators to use should they want them. I'm using a CC/WB system as a primary car forwarding system but I'd like to have something on hand should someone want to "take notes".
I could whip something up in word or excel in a pinch but if someone has something already done and is willing to share I'd be grateful. It would be one less thing I need to run around and take care of before next week.
Thanks in advance!
