Suggestions for a can motor a little smaller than old Pittman motors?

Can anyone suggest a can motor a little smaller than the old Pittman motors?

My target is a drop-in replacement for most brass steam locomotives. I will create a bracket to mimic the Pittman mount point, a 4-40 x 3/16 screw

The width is the most critical dimension to fit in most brass steam locos.

Overall dimensions less than or equal to

MLW M420 questions

I'm thinking of reserving a couple of Rapido M420s in order to model my two remaining Iowa Interstate M420Rs.  However, since the standard M420 has ZWT trucks and the M420R has AAR-B's, I'm trying to determine if the M420 will be an acceptable starting point.

EMD E3 vs E5 vs E6

As a modeler, what’s the difference between an EMD E3A, E5A, and E6A?

I want an E3A and E6A (N scale) but the only thing I can find is the Kato E5. I have decals for both the ACL Campion E3 and IC City of Miami E6, but neither appeared to use the E5. I’ve read the primary difference was electrical but the Kato E5 appears slightly different.

Request Help Identifying This Tender Shell

I would appreciate assistance identifying this tender.  As you can see from the ruler, it is about 50' long.

It belonged to a C&O fan, but looks more like a Union Pacific or Southern Pacific model.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Walther Front Runner tips for better running

Anyone been successful at getting these cars to run well ?

Ive added weight to the trailers and am experimenting with modifications to the truck under the hitch by removing the front screw and trimming some plastic away to allow some ability for the B end axle to swivel slightly

Salt Hauling & Modeling

Hi all, I'm hoping to get some general prototype information from those of you that know more about railroads and how they hauled salt. I've lived virtually my whole life in North Carolina, where it snows very little except in the highest of mountain elevations. I am interested in learning more about how the railroads hauled salt for use in spreading on roadways. I am planning for a future HO Scale, 2' x 20' northeastern U.S.

suggestions for 1.5mm drive shaft that does not slip?

Any suggestions how to build a drive shaft that does not slip?

I am trying to re-power a loco with a small can motor, 1.5mm output shaft. The NWSL sockets on the motor and the worm shaft do not slip.  I built a drive shaft from brass rod and the 1.5mm ID balls included in the kit.  The balls slip on the shaft under torque. I knurled the shaft.  They still slip.

Lettering Diagram: Speedy Poultry Palace Car - Old Ambroid 1 of 5,000 Series

I would deeply appreciate anyone who is able to provide a lettering diagram for the Ambroid 1 of 5,000 series “Speedy” Poultry car.  I just completed such a kit, and it’s a really cool car - half stock car and half reefer.  But alas, the decal sheet has fallen apart with age and the instruction sheet is almost unreadable.  Any assistance to determine that original lettering pattern for these cars would be deeply appreciated.
