Bachmann FA2 locomotive with DCC & Sound - Part #64704

I just received my new Bachmann FA2 loco which is DCC with SoundTraxx sound in L&N (of course) colors.  I paid $113 for the unit and wanted to share a couple of thoughts on the unit.

Bachmann clinax gears

Does anyone out there have any experience installing NWSL gears in a Bachmann Climax. If you have, any tips   would be appreciated. Also did you use the  Loctite recommended or something else (about $20 a SMALL bottle)!?  Got mine the other day & they are SMALL but not as small as the 2 washers. I think my biggest fear is loosing one or more during the process.

Frisco HO Locomotives - GP7/9 in Yellow/Black Paint Scheme

I have been looking for years for these models and cannot find them any where - online, hobby shops, eBay, Craig's List, etc.  Anyone out there know where I might find them?

Thanks.

Decaling Accurail Kits

Hi All-

I have 13 Accurail boxcar kits coming my way and I have on hand the renumbering decals from Accurail to make unique car numbers on all of them.  While I'm comfortable with the basic concepts of decaling does anyone have any previous experience working with the accurail decals in particular who could impart any knowledge?

Many Thanks,

~rb

Adding sound decoder to an N Model Power 4-6-2

As vast as the web is I can't find any info on someone doing this, I found a couple good tutorials on a standard DCC upgrade which is pretty simple, was hoping to find something on a speaker recommendation or the modifications that might be needed. I'll probably be using a TSU-750, waiting for the loco to arrive to do some measuring to find a speaker that will fit. Anyone done one of these?

Better Late than Never Railroad #2801

Hello everyone

Well I finished another one of my locomotives tonight. BLN 2801 is a Spectrum 2-8-0 that I have now relettered and weathered for my future layout. I weathered the engine using AIM weathering powders and rubbing alcohol. I did have to brush dullcote onto the drivers and side rods so the powders would hold. Now she is ready to spend years pulling trains and looks like she has been doing it for quite a while too.

Interesting 1:1 Loco consist

A couple of days ago I saw What I thought was an interesting lash up of locos here in Longmont,CO. This is near the old sugar beet plant. I think it services as an interchange with the Great Western Ry.

Other than the GP38-2 nearest the camera, I'm not sure what the other units are. I am clearly not a diesel spotter.

Bachmann EM-1

I have seen a couple pictures in a couple other forums about this monster. It has quite a cab swing, even on 22 inch radius. Bachmann started shipping this loco about two weeks ago. Bachmann is releasing a new line of loco's, steam and diesel, sound and non sound. A few have just receive their loco..
