Decided I'd try and model the FRA yellow reflectors that we're starting to see on a lot of rolling stock. They were mandated by the FRA in 2005, but even today in 2014 not all older pieces of rolling stock has them. I probably won't put them on all my stuff... just a select few. The stuff I used is ("GREAT PLANES" KWIKSTRIPE - model striping tape. 1/16th" yellow) 

I'm looking over my Train Shed Cyclopedia on box cars. Noting the differences in AAR specs and various roads' variations over the years, I have a question on dreadnought ends. When the car height went from 9'6" or 10' to 10'6" or beyond, where was the extra height added to the ends? Was it between the ribs? At the joint? At the bottom?  At the top? Did it vary by manufacturer?
 

So My First Time Posting. Got a problem with wheels.

I recently dug out my 2 old Krauss-Maffei ML 4000 diesels to upgrade to DCC. This was actually an easy upgrade. My first attempt at installing a decoder. Talk about a lot of space in the shell! 45 minutes and I couldn't wait to get to the club meeting where we have a programing track and JMRI upstairs in the club meeting room. All went well except for the volume, but that is for another posting in another category. Anyway, all went well.

I am looking doing handrails in the following scheme where there is reflective yellow spiraled over th entire span of the handrail.  See following pic
