Proto 2000 - BL-2

I recently purchased a C&O BL-2 Proto 2000.  It is DC and I want to convert it to DCC.  Has anyone done this?

Converting Bachman NYCS GP-7 to P+E GP-7.

Has anyone out there changed over the Bachman New York Central System GP-7 to a   Peoria + Eastern  GP-7 ??   Just curious. One would removed the road number under the cab window and replace with the P+E oval emblem. Plus larger block numbers by the corner of the side short hood. Does anyone make decals for these P+E locos ??

Branding a hopper for my railroad

I have a Data only Accurail hopper that I would like to brand for my own railroad - the Sunset & North Eastern.

I have mocked it up as a starter as SE 10104. Would this be right or should I do it another way?

Have I got the spacings right?

Is there a clever way of fitting brake wheels to old time 40' wooden boxcars from Accurail?

I have a pile of Accurail box cars to make. Two of them are 40' wooden ones with the upright type of brake wheel. You get a piece of wire to cut to length and then have to balance the wheel on the end using whatever glue you have.

I tried using CA but all that happened was that my fingers got stuck as well. I am now using Gator's Grip (an acrylic based glue that works with resin and metal) but even then it is difficult to get the wheel on straight. I am not keen on trying to drill a tiny hole.

What green works for the B&M's older coaches

I've seen pics of old wooden B&M coaches in a nice green; does anyone know what paint that's actually available would be suitable?

Which replacement wheel sets for Accurail kits?

I have recently bought 11 Accurail kits. They are very nice and go together well but I have had a problem with one kit in that there are no flanges on one of the wheelsets. I am in the UK so this isn't quite a trivial problem.

It was recommended to me when I was asking about these kits that I get some replacement wheels and couplers. I got the couplers but didn't buy the wheels (D'oh!). I am looking at getting a set of replacements and have seen the following on offer.

Economy engines

This came to the QAT mail here at MRH. Rather than make Bruce wait until November for an answer, we're putting it out here for readers to help:

Does any manufacturer offer HO diesels without DCC or DCC-ready, that are lower priced? -- Bruce S.

Let's concentrate on new, currently available models. Bruce didn't offer any restrictions on size or era.

HO Spectrum 4-6-0 and 4-4-0 cabs

I hope this is an easy one.  Can anyone verify (or refute) that both versions of the Spectrum 4-6-0 as well as the 4-4-0 share the same cab?  I know that there are a couple different cabs offered, but are they interchangeable?  I suspect that they are, but I'd like to know for sure.

Kato 90/43 MAC and coupler

Looking to replace rear coupler with a Micro-Trains coupler and was advised to get 2004-1 [001-02-052]. Removed Kato coupler but find that the MT one doesn't fit in the loco coupler pocket. What am I missing? Advice appreciated.Tom

NP Decals for HO Tichy 53 GSC Flat Car

I acquired two Tichy 52'6" GSC flat car kits. They come undecorated and have no suggestions for decals.  I have built one and have the other in reserve. I am holding back on my SP Historical and Technical Society F70 kit until I retire and have more time to devote to its construction.
