Locos and rolling stock

Just curious

There's been quite a bit of chatter in regards to Bachmann locomotives recently. I'm just curious mind you. Are they still being made with rubber traction tires, or have they finally discontinued that practice? For the prices they are asking for I would hope that the rtt's are a thing of the past. While I do have a few of the older ones, they WILL be junked, gutted, scrapped, mangled, wrecked and terrorized into something, other than a running locomotive. Since 1988 all my locomotive purchases have had metal wheels.

Fox Valley HO GP60 shakedown issues

Picked up a Fox Valley Models HO GP60 recently. Beautiful model but finding some electrical issues upon trials.

1. The rotary beacon (when it and all lights are turned off) glows dimly when throttle is applied.

2.  the front truck doesn't seem to pickup track power on its own when the rear is lifted off the track. The rear does pickup power when front is lifted off track. My understanding was that all wheels pickup.

Are the above normal?

ATSF GP35 Weathered (Athearn RTR)

Hi all,

I finished recently the weathering and renumbering on an Athearn GP35 (RTR model, HO scale). It depicts an ATSF unit, phase I in the mid to late sixties #1327, in a rather tired condition. I haven't dealt with any detail upgrades on this one yet (MU hoses, lift rings, coupler cut bars, new couplers) and i need to change number boards to the correct new road number. Luckily the Athearn factory yellow matched the Microscale decals (and my prototype photos) and i did not need to repaint / re-decal the whole shell (which i ll need to do in my Kato units...)

BLI shell removal

Can someone please tell me about BLI shell removal.  I have a BLI SW7 i need to remove the shell from.

2017 Athearn Tbox 60' Gunderson Box Car pictures.

I just received this months release of the 60' Gunderson box cars in the new red TTX scheme and compared them to previous releases of this car from Athearn. I like the flatter paint, almost satin finish. The yellow is brighter and the bottom side is all black. Also the trucks aren't shiny, they are more matte than earlier releases of this car.

The other change I noticed is the application of the white Overheight strip on the ends of the car.

Here are some pictures.

Need Help Identifying Items from Another Collection

Greetings All!

Once again I have purchased a collection of cars and other items and there are some items that I need help identifying.  I don't know if the car numbers are original or have been changed by the previous owner.  Below will be photos.  Any help identifying what the actual car is (so I can list it properly) and what manufacturer for the model of the car is as well.  Thanks all!

wheel contours

A rigorous review of wheel design is described by Tad Daito in the May-June issue of the O Scale Resource on line magazine.  His test of custom "O" scale stainless steel wheels ran two hours a day for 13 years.  http://oscale.uberflip.com/t/62954-the-o-scale-resource   This work is being done in Japan using American prototype models, described thoroughly and bluntly.   His Low-D reduces friction !

A train of over 100 cars weighs 100 pounds and the locomotive pulls 1 amp.

Williams O 3-Rail Parts

I am searching for some truck gears and pick ups for Williams 3-rail locomotives.  You can buy new trucks for 75.00 each but our club has many that just need bottom gear and a pick up.  Hoping for some help.

Thanks

Making drawbars to connect F units

I'm thinking of connecting an F3A and a B unit using a drawbar.  These units always run together.  I suspect others have done this, and am interested to see how.  What material is used for the drawbar? Do you use the standard coupler pockets? Do you permanently attach to both locos, or just to the lead unit and use a pin on the trailing unit the way steam locos connect to their tenders?

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Pacific Car Foundry HO Scale Log Bunks - Grandt Line 5104

Hi Guys,

Im after someone who has a pack on Grandt Line Pacific Car Foundry HO Scale Log Bunks Part 5104.

If anyone has a set handy in their collection im after the width of them scale. Im looking to use them in a scratch build. I would just buy a set and measure but most of the time it is $20 postage for a small parcel from the US to Aus

They are listed under "narrow gauge" but i am looking for some to use on a large amount of standard gauge HO logging flats based on PCF Red River Type Skeleton with Quadruple Bunks
