Locos and rolling stock

Another Junk Box Hero...

I haven't done much with my HO stuff in a few years due to several reasons.  Running 12 inch to the foot trolley cars at The Shoreline Trolley Museum in East Haven, CT, http://www.shorelinetrolley.org Retiring from 27 years at Mazda North American Operations, and doing a mechanical restoration on a 1941 GE 23 ton loco. It isn't complete yet but it is usable and is a lot of fun to operate.

black hydrochloric acid tankcars

I'm trying to find pictures of black hydrochloric acid tankcars. Are they only painted white and are they always lettered hydrochloric acid?

Speed matching DC locos

I need to reduce the speed on a trolley car to match a 2-8-0, both are new Bachmann, Gcale ,DC. Am thinking this may be done with a resistor? on the trolley car. And no my client does not want to switch to dcc, as this is an elevated layout in a coffee shop and is continuse running. Thought I would ask before I take it apart. Thanks . Daryl

Overweight car standards

I have read the other posts on the pros and cons of overweighting rolling stock and enjoyed the various views. I would like to hear from the modelers who over weight their rolling stock as to the standard that they use.

For example:

1 ounce for every 10 foot length or

all cars weight is 6 ounces.

Ken

Lionel, HO 4-6-2 locomotive

So, the club recently got a donation of a fair amount of old HO equipment.

In the box were 2 Lionel HO scale 4-6-2 locomotives. They were lettered for Western Pacific. Not sure if this was custom or not.

One of the 2 clearly had an upgraded motor.

Tichy AB Brake Set

I started my first resin freight car kit, Funaro & Camerlengo. I got to the stage of installing the brake gear and the build stalled.  I realized that other than the main components, triple valve, reservoir and cylinder I don't recognise what the other small parts on the sprue are or where they go.

Is there a diagram on the web somewhere that labels what each part is and hopefully where it's installed?

Thanks,

Jeff

K27 #461 in HOn3 and others finished

I've finished the Sunset models K-27 as number 461. It has a Tsunami decoder installed. I painted it with a green boiler just because....

Here's my collection of K-27's:

#452, 455, 460, 461 and 463. One of these are not like the others though. As one isn't a brass engine. Which one?

Gunderson Maxi I out of a Gunderson Twin Stack

Over the years at various swap meets and such, I have aquired several Gunderson Twin Stacks produced by A-line. Since I am more modern mid 1990s- mid 2000s modeler, I am wondering how hard it would be to make a Gunderson Maxi I out of a Gunderson Twin Stack?
