Unit train - permanently coupled?
A comment in another thread got me thinking. Does anyone run a unit train that you have permanently coupled? I plan a couple of through trains that will be unit coal, one loads, one empties. I can see where just having the cars all permanently or at least semi-permanently coupled might make sense and eliminate potential errors. Maybe just groups of five or six cars? I dunno, never really thought about it. Have you?
Couplers
What couplers should I use on my ho scale 100+coal train I'm using 4 kato sd90 2 pulling one mid train sd90 and one at end
Broadway Limited Imports ALCo RSD-15
I bought the new Broadway Limited Imports Southern Pacific RSD-15 locomotive. It has some accuracy issues as far as duplicating the prototype, and I knew that before buying it, but I feel it is a good quality locomotive.
Who ran this?
Attached is a scan of an N-scale 50 ft, plug door refrigerator/refrigerated boxcar (?). Anyone know what roads, if any, ran this car? I'd like to paint/decal appropriately.
Thanks
Mark
O scale - A modified tank car
Hello to all!
I would like to show you and to explain what I've done with a Atlas tank car. This tank has two lives.
To begin, I've bought a Atlas Trainman 8000 gals tank car there is a little more than 10 years ago.
I used the tank to scratchbuild a 1918 US imported tank car for the french railroads. The tank was too long (just a few millimeters). So I've cut down it to obtain the good size.
Do you use Momentum ? Acceleration and deceleration
Acceleration and deceleration.... I like to set it so my trains start and stop like the real thing. It gives me more time to use the other sound functions like brake squeal or air brake sounds as the train is slowing. However it seams like most dont use it?
V/Line - P Class
I'm guessing not many of you will be interested in Australian locomotives, but due to the fact I grew up in Victoria and have taken trips on this small loco I couldn't resist buying it!
Australian loco's and rolling stock, the ready to run stuff, have always been a step behind the American trains but I think we are finally catching up. I recently saw an Australian model in a MR mag which is quite rare!
Source for Kato SD38-2 Non Dynamic Brake Hatch
I am looking for a Kato SD38-2 Non Dynamic Brake Hatch. Kato is sold out and I have not found any on eBay or turned up anything through local train shows and swap meets. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

BNSF Track Measurement Train
I was walking to the library with Christine. We have to cross the BNSF tracks through Longmont, CO, to get there. I wanted to record a train at a grade crossing as a ringtone for my phone. Well, today there was a train approaching as we crossed the tracks. So I got out my phone and used the video to capture the sounds. I wasn't really looking at the train as it approached. I didn't see what it was until I was recording, The video is not the best because I really wasn't thinking "video" when I started. It was an interesting very short train.
Kato-repowered P2K Geeps
I wrote this up on the old Atlas Forum several years ago, but seeing comments from "MikeC in Qld" in this week's WPF thread about how poorly his P2K Geep runs made me realize it might be good to repost it here. I'm moving the bulk of the post to the first reply so all the text and photos don't repeat on each page.
