Two CN Point St. Charles cabooses. One is brass and the other plastic. Can you tell them apart?
Clear coat
I just got a brass loco that I would consider mint and the clearcoat is flawless. Why must I remove it before painting? What would be the minimum cleaning I should do? If I consider it the primer will it matter what brand paint I spray? Blayne
New Portuguese model
Hi all.
I know that probably most of the readers won't care, but I would like to show here the first photo of the new model that it is being produced by a Portuguese manufacturer.
It is one of the first electric powered locomotives we har rolling on our country, and it was retired. Now it can "live" on our layouts, in H0 scale!
This is great news for Portuguese modelers and for folks who like different kind of rolling stock and motive power.
Durango press
Hi all, was just considering some of durango press, MOW equipment. But wondering if the kits are plastic or some kind of cast metal?
Has anyone built any of them, and can show some pics of Assembly and or finished?

Mixing rolling stock road names in a freight train
I'm looking at buying some rolling stock and I'm interested in finding out what I can use with a 1950's - 1960's Southern Pacific or Santa Fe freight train?
From my limited knowledge I understand I can run about any road name box car. What about other type cars like tank cars, gondolas, hoppers, flat cars, etc.? Other than lease tank cars, do I need to run only SP or SF road name cars?

N Scale RDC's - Can they be repurposed?
Even though to date I have been mostly a lone wolf, I have begun thinking more about what operations will be supported and fun (both lone wolf and multiple operators.) Athearn WV caboose detailed for Rock Island Prototype caboose
The old Athearn wide vision caboose was modeled using a Rock Island prototype caboose The RI carbodies are shorter than the later WV cabooses I stripped a C&O factory painted caboose and carved off the cast on hand railings. Removed the roof walf and replaced it with one from Plano.
Ambroid outside frame caboose--just found
I just got my hands on a new old stock Ambroid Outside Frame Caboose. Does anyone have experience building any Ambroid kits--especially this one? My wood kit building experience is minimal.
