Swimming Pool?

Here's an unusual idea - I'm trying to figure out how to model a swimming pool at an old motel - actually, a "motor inn", as they were called. My layout era is early 1970's, and I've added a run-down motor inn on the outskirts of town, using the Bar Mills kit "Cabins at Collard's Creek" plus additional cabins.

I was trying to find out if there is anyone out there who will build or photobuild (like Lance Mindheim’s buildings ). I’m building a layout and wanted to see if anyone knows of anyone who will kitbash or even build a stock building?

If anyone knows of someone offering this service I’d appreciate it if you could give me their information or point me in the right direction. I have some buildings I’m going to need built

I have zero experience scratchbuilding but am really interested in picking up the hobby. I bought a Cricut and just need some direction (I think I'd prefer to create my own buildings). Are there any resources you guys can point me to in order to get started?

Here are some photos of my Engine Shop / Maintenance Facility for the CMMR. I started with a Pikestuff 541-0008 2 stall Enginehouse kit and added their 541-0011 Office / Showroom. I painted it to try and match the actual CEMR shops here in Winnipeg. I also added some other details from a Walthers Roof Detail kit.

When do you apply ballast?

Hi all,

I am wondering when others apply ballast to trackwork?

Is it before or after grasses etc get applied to the surrounding scene?

Is it better to apply the ballast first then apply static grasses up to the ballast?

I am ballasting a small section at the moment and have already applied 2mm static grass right up to the roadbed formation, but when I place the ballast, it's sitting on top of the grass and just doesn't look right.

Scenery help! Dealing with dried matte medium splotches

Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on dealing with the white spots that show up in places after the matte medium solution dries?

I used a 50/50 solution of diluted matte medium and water, with a splash of 91% rubbing alcohol. When it dried, I got white splotches in places on the ties and along the sides of the rails.

model rail how to create a river spanning two modules?

I an rethinking part of my layout. To make it completely modular, I was thinking on having the corner modules as 24" x 24" separate modules. But at one corner I have the river coming out from the corner and ending on a second module. Is there a way to create a river that spans two modules?
