Strange Question on Static Grass

Has anyone ever tried (or contemplated) mowing the grass? I was thinking (always a dangerous occupation for me) that model lawns never seem right to me. Either the "grass" is flattened or is too high. Was wondering if electric hair clippers could be used with appropriate standoffs to do the trick.

Any other suggestions? (btw-Just ordered the Woodland Scenics Static King, so not just an idle question).

Painting My Laser Cut Barn Kit

I am getting ready as assemble a laser cut barn kit. The manufacturer is American Model Builders. The manufacturer recommends airbrushing the model and using a solvent based paint. I would like to paint the barn some shade of red, but there are so many variations of the color red. Has anyone assembled a barn and painted it a red color and if so what did you use?

Best Airbrush

What do you guys recommend for an airbrush?  I found it “challenging” with my old unit-  Micromark — for which there was very little tech support.

I want a good brush from a company which has good training videos and human tech support.

Does it make any difference if I get a airbrush specific air pump? I have been using a general purpose air pump.

Laser Cut Structure Bracing

I am planning on assembling my first laser cut structure. My question is, I was told to prevent any warpage of the structure that I should glue two horizontal wood strips on the backside walls of the structure. Is this a valued suggestion?

Building lights

Does anyone else use these leds to light their buildings? I find them fantastic using them in strips of three and singular ones.

My Misti Mountain - a mole hill?

I was talking to Michael Rose the other day (about model railroading of course) and he got me thinking about my Misti Mountain on my layout and how it is out of scale; that is, it's not really a mountain.  You see, it's only 27 inches high.  If you do the math of 27" where 1" equals 87" in HO you get 27 x 87 = 2,349 inches and if you divide that by 12 you get 195.75 feet which is hardly a mountain or as Michael said it's more of a mole hill.

just a couple pics

I rarely post photos thought Id give it a go...

Best Glue for Korber kits

I have a 5 stall HO scale Korber roundhouse that I am building (actually rebuilding), and I'm wondering what is the best glue to use?

I understand these are resin kits, and some styrene glues do not work. I am also not a big fan of AC glues.

I did recently find a good buy on Devcon epoxies from ACE hardware, and I figured these could be used for final assembly?

What is the best way to weather white-painted windows?

I am just completing the building of an N scale freight depot (Pola N209). I painted the windows white and they look pristine, like they've just come out of the factory. What is the best way to tone them down so that they look their age?

I should add that the windows are installed (but could be removed). They are not (yet?) glazed.

Transfer Table / Transverser... in N?

I've been considering, for some time now, an engine facility on a T trak module (most likely a double, possibly a triple). Obviously T-Trak  modules aren't big enough for a turntable with more than  a few tracks, but a transfer table with 8-10 would fit quite nicely. I don't want a just a display piece though - I want it to operate.
