Question about large sheets of Evergreen styrene clapboard

I am looking to purchase the larger, 12 x 24 inch, sheets of clapboard styrene made by Evergreen. The LHS does not stock these and I can't find a picture on the web.

Brass sand tower with base

I have a brass sand tower. The main tower and its shorter support tower on the other side of the track has a brass plate the connects the two at the bottom.

It seems this would necessitate the whole tower being painted and finished before I can lay track as the the brass plate needs to go under the track.

A plastic kit like Walthers has each piece separate and each can go on its own on either side of the track. You can also make it sit on a concrete slab if you want.

Holgate & Reynolds

Years ago, the last time I actually scratchbuilt any structures, I used brick and stone material from Holgate & Reynolds. It came in long plastic sheets and was really great stuff. I can't seem to find H&R on the web and Walthers doesn't carry it in the new catalog.

Is it still made and available?

Is there something available that's just as good to use?

Thanks,

Roger Huber

What type of crane?

I am looking to dress up the freight house of my railroad and would like to put a small crane into the scene. Now, in the UK my choice would be easy. There are a few kits around that fill the bill exactly. However, I am not sure quite what American practice might be. If I show you what I can get, then tell me if I am on the wrong track. As the facility is small, I don't want to put too big a crane into the scene.

This is a typical UK type of yard crane. This specific one is a laser cut kit by Ancorton.

Background Pictures

Where could I find pictures on the web (or how should I word the search string) of light/medium industry, warehouses, commercial structures or similar for placing directly on a background or cutting out on Gator Board for semi-relief buildings?

Carolina Craftsman Kit - Pine Valley Stattion - Quick Question

Hi everyone.

I am just about to start making this kit but am a bit confused. What are the brass bits in this photo for?

Any thoughts?

vertical trees

Ok, a year or two ago I was posting about bluffs.  Along the same vein I'm posting about trees in a narrow space (between rails and wall).

Have a look at Jeff Mutter's Erie and Lackawanna here;home.comcast.net/~jwmutter/

and below a sample of what I'm going for.
