Custom DCC Throttle Holder KIT

Found it on EBAY, precision laser cut hardboard/masonite, glue together and paint. Allows FULL access to all Digitrax Buttons without taking the throttle out of the pocket.  Nice product.  Only $3.00 and comes in two models for Digitrax, engineer and full size.  Other DCC brands supported as well.

Needed: Opinions on DC walkaround throttles

Hi-

I'm looking at getting a Starr-Tec Hogger walk around throttle (new in box), and wanted to know opinions and reviews of this throttle. Also, what are the other choices out there for handheld walk around DC throttles? TIA.

Foam roadbed, what's the state of the art method?

A friend is building his framework and planning on using extruded foam as the flat top.  Dips and rises will be worked in later after the flat track is laid.

Obviously the profile has to be built up for drainage etc so cork could be used but is it used alone or are there any alternatives to keep noise down?

Illinois Central 60/70 Gscale Commutor Car

Hi I am looking for G scale decals for a 601970s IC Commuter car. The cars ran from South Chicago to downtown. They were brown cars with i believe orange or yellow lettering. The cars had reversible wicker seats and were electric

Having trouble getting headlight to work.  Had to place the green wire on the empty pin for the mars light which works fine.  Digitrax could not advise any further.  Has any one had this problem and if so what is the solution.

Peco Electro-frog turnouts reliability?

Anyone know the long term reliability of Peco code 100 electro frog turnouts( "long" or wide radius version)? I'm thinking about using them in a staging yard since they don't need switch controllers or frog powering devices. I'm specifically wondering how reliable the points throw and frog powering circuit is? If they'd soon need work then I'd just go with hand laid and blue point controllers.....DaveB

Getting volts but no amps on reverse loop

I have a PSX-AR Auto Reverser to power the reverse loop with the appropriate gaps and it is powered by a Digitrax DB150 Booster. On the mainline, with a RRampMeter and a taillight bulb clipped on as a load I get over 12 volts and 2 amps. When I test the loop I get no readings. But when I unclip the taillight bulb and just use the RRampMeter I get a reading of over 14 volts and 0 amps on the loop.

DCC polarity tester

MRH Note: Why DCC polarity matters ... at booster district boundaries or at reversing sections or turnout frogs, if you have the DCC polarity/phase wrong, the locos will short out and refuse to run across the rail joints!

A few weeks ago I posted a schematic for a DCC polarity tester on another thread. I don't remember seeing this anywhere, but I doubt I am the first to come up with it.

Hare, trigger rail and reversing loop

So I have a Wabbit - two hares - that I am planing to use to throw a turn out heading into a reversing loop so I can get continous running out of a loop to loop layout in N scale.

1.  I'm still not clear on how the triggering rail thing works, how does the hare know the engine has hit the trigger rail? What is detected?  I'm assuming the trigger has to be far enough away so that the tortoise has enough time to move.

Using DS64 Inputs and Crossing Flasher

I am looking for guidance on how to wire the optional output (shown as Item J on page 20 from Atlas Signal Control Board - link to manual is below) to the DS64 Input to provide the input to activate the flasher circuit in the DS-64.
