Loksound Speaker Crackling?
I have an Athearn RTR SD40 that I installed a Loksound Select decoder in 2 years ago. Recently, I upgraded the sound by adding another speaker and by making a new enclosure for the speaker that was already in there (these are the TDS Supersonic Small and Loksound cube speakers I used in the locomotive. These are 8 ohm 1 watt speakers). While running the locomotive, the sound eventually starts to have pops and crackles (especially the horn) even though I have both speakers sealed up air-tight.

ESU CabControl WIFI problems?
Hey all,
Just wondering if anyone has had this issue with the ESU CabControl...
After turning the unit on in accordance with the instruction manual I tried to connect the WIFI, the WIFI signal for the unit appears on the hand controller however when I tell the hand controller to connect it asks for a WIFI password. I have searched high and low for a password to no avail.

Can I add a "stay alive" device to a modern can motor to run on DC only (no DCC decoder)?
The application is a loop of track with no switches. One trolley will run at constant speed in a museum display layout. Because of occasional pickup problems, mainly from the single trolley pole on live overhead wire, it needs "stay alive" for reliable operation. As a museum display it needs to be easily turned on and off -- no "futzing" with a DCC throttle.
So, can I just solder a "stay alive" device (blue wire to +, black-with-white-stripe to -) to the motor and run it with a plain 'ol 12VDC power supply?

How to disable LokSound Select start up sequence?
Hello, everyone! I’ve enjoyed the many informative posts here in the forum. Now I have a question of my own:
I bought an Intermountain SD40-2 with a OEM LokSound Select decoder. When I turn on the power or set it on the track the engine goes through it’s sound start up sequence. I know how to disable this on LokSound 3.5’s but not this Select. Any instructions or tips?
Thanks a bunch!

Peco spring replacement how to...
I had a Peco turnout with a missing spring in my staging yard, so before I covered it up with the next level I wanted to replace the missing spring. Since it was asked here, I thought I'd get some pictures and show how its done.
First, you have to bend up the retaining tabs on the spring cover. My file is pointing to the one on the right, the other one is just under the point on the left. You'll have to reverse the switch to bend that one up.

NCE Pro 5 Wireless, loco decoder wipe out, any ideas?
I was invited to an operating session on a friends layout on Saturday, he uses the NCE PH-Pro5 wireless system and prior to the actual start of the session everything ran fine with 6 wireless throttles. Two other guests arrived and added their 3 throttles to the system, everything was fine. The session started and we got about 20 minutes into it with a total of 5 trains running, a yard job, 3 mainline trains and a local, when everything stopped and none of the engines would respond. After checking out a few things such making sure all of the throttles had their own c

Polarity issues...
Ok, so a friend of mine has all of his staging wired up and working.
Locktite Power Grab - Remove?
So, I made a rookie mistake... even though I've been in the hobby for over 30 years. I out-smarted myself thinking that my track plan was "final" and used Locktite PowerGrab to attach my track to the cork roadbed.
Has anyone had any success getting this stuff to give up its grip? So far, the few locations that I've tried to rework wound up with me destroying said piece of Atlas code 55 track.
Ideas?

MRC 1925 (Genie) decoder and 603 Surface Mount LEDs
Shot in the dark, does anyone have any experience getting the MRC 1925 to work with LEDs. In particular 603s.
According to the directions, you wire to the Fwd and reverse and then instead of the Light common, you wire directly to any pickup. i've tried that, but it isn't working.
