Track and electrical/DCC
{sigh}
I spent dozens of hours "drawing" the track plan on AnyRail. The turnouts at the top and bottom of the picture were laid to within 1/4" of where specified on the plan. I put down the templates of the track connecting the turnouts...and I end up with this:
SIGH....

LGB track question...
Quick question about LGB track...
Is it all mostly compatible with each other?
For instance, I have a half oval of Bachmann G track... if I bought LGB track from eBay would the two be compatible? Or are the connections different? I have two Bachmann sets that I've never been able to test, because I only have that half oval, and have been considering putting up an oval of track, and seeing if these locos even work.
hand laid switch problem (shorts)
HI Folks
I just completed a hand made turnout in N Scale, I followed the #4 size templates at HandLaidTrack.com, but did not purchase his jigs etc. The switch seems to work ok until the engine hits the frog (which is isolated and unpowered) and then something someplace shorts out. I have checked to make sure it is not thrown against the movement (the train is entering from the diverging route). Being new at hand laying switches, I am not sure where to look to begin to diagnose the problem. Can someone point me in the right direction?

DCC Light Flicker
Okay, so here's a question... when I built my Hogwart's Castle (well.. not so much built, as modified) for DCC and sound, I added an LED light inside the cab to simulate the fire in the fire box. Because the engine has no headlight, I wired the firebox light into the decoder for "headlight" and have the decoder programmed so it stays on for both headlight, and tail light (so it's constant on)
My question is... is there a way to program that light in CVs (or better yet, JMRI) so that it flickers? Or am I stuck with it as just a solid light?
Problems with NCE Light it
I purchased a few of this versatile decoder... and cornered myself through some error - of mine, no doubt.
After wiring them up, I started the program mode... and somehow got 2 of them into DC Mode... and can't get them to revert to factory settings, or DCC Loco Mode.
Is anyone aware of a way to correct this?
It appears they'll do just fine for my needs... I am otherwise impressed.
NCE has been sent a request for help... but, as this is the weekend, that's a day away.
Thoughts on locating loss of DCC track power
1) I can think of better ways to spend a Saturday,
2) Bending down and working under benchwork to continuity test wire runs is NOT my idea of a fun way to spend a Saturday!

Rapido switch machine
We attempted Rapido to install a Rapido switch machine today to throw a Shinahora turnout. After several
attempts to adjust it to close the points in both directions it appears there is not enough throw to do so. It appears the machines maximum throw is about 1/8th of an inch and the throw required exceeds that. Their video shows it with a Peco switch.Does anyone have any experience with these machines?
Frog Juicer Question
I have a Frog Juicer question.... I have a Hex Frog Juicer that has all 6 positions in service. Now I've added one more turnout in that area of the layout.
My question is, can I double up two turnouts (frogs) under one position on a Frog Juicer?
Note: My layout is almost all industrial/urban, and as such, the likelihood of two different locos running over the two "doubled up" frogs is extremely remote.
Note #2: I know I can buy a Mono Frog Juicer, but wondered if I could forego that and just double up two turnouts?
ESU LokPilot v4.0 and Coreless motor
Hi All,
I've just taken delivery of a beautiful new tank loco, that's fitted with a coreless motor.
I've fitted the engine with an ESU LokPilot v.4.0 (Next 18 interface). This is my first loco with a coreless motor.
Frustratingly, when the loco is moving at low speed (Speed steps 1-10) , I'm hearing an electrical arcing sound coming from the motor. Is this common with coreless motors, and if so, is there a CV change that can be applied to resolve the issue?
Any help would be most appreciated.
Thanks,
Pete
