Track and electrical/DCC

Speaker damaged?
I have a loco speaker which suddenly started sound very distorted. The engine is new and the speaker & DCC is a factory install. When I took the engine apart I found a piece of soft debris (foam sliver?) on the speaker. I brushed it away with a small soft brush. I noticed what appeared to be a piece of plastic flash against the edge of the speaker so I carefully removed it with a hobby knife.
DCC controlled Electrical Switch
Hi folks:
Ive been away from the hobby for a bit of a while, and I am hoping to get re-started. Im currently doing some planning. I am planning to control the turnouts on my layout with servos and servo testers. My preferred method of control requires the use of an electrical switch to turn on and off the current coming from the pot on the servo tester. as a result, I am looking for a DCC controlled switch, I dont need anything fancy -- just a simple ON / OFF switch, (or relay)
Thanks
TIM
Observation about DC vs DCC
Been inactive in the hobby for about 5 years and in that time it looks more like an electronics hobby than trains. Seems like DCC has been taken to the point of taking over all the fun of building and running trains. Glad I still use DC and will continue to do so.

EN22 motors
Hi,
I am having some difficulty finding a replacement motor for my Brass E44A. It is equippes with a Canon EN22 motor (specifically, an EN22-T13N1B/CN22-04301).
For whatever reason, the motor in this unit does not exceed speed step 10 (of 28).
I have several other E44s and i would like to keep them running, but it seems impossible for me to find even just an EN22, let alone one that is double shafted or of the right configuration. I've seen posts elsewhere about using these motors, so i figure there must be a source.

Walthers Mainline GP9 II Prime Mover Unsynced? SOLVED!!
Hello, fellow modelers!
I have a new Walthers Mainline GP9 phase II with an ESU Loksound Economi Essential Sound decoder. My issue is that the prime mover sound is constantly dropping to idle for several seconds and then running back up to normal. It sounds like an old GP going through transition repeatedly. When switching the prime mover is completely out of sync with the locomotives actions.
Central Valley Turnouts
Reviewing the instructions for the Central Valley turnouts it says to glue down the tie blocks to your roadbed as a first step. Can the CV turnouts be built without this step to allow building the turnouts before track laying starts to allow you to stockpile a number of turnouts? Using the FastTracks jigs you can build the turnouts in advance.
Jiffy Rerailer
Several years ago there was a discussion about retailers, specifically the Jiffy Rerailer. I gather from that discussion that Jiffy is no longer in business. I cannot find them anywhere on the web.
I am looking for a compact retailer to use in staging and before/after a lift out section as "insurance". Obviously the Atlas rerailer is readily available but it is has a high visual footprint.
Does anyone know if another manufacturer has picked up the Jiffy design?
Turntable Quandary
So I have a 130' Bowser turntable installed on my new layout. Its not 100% complete however close. It runs nice and smooth however does not have indexing. The other day I picked up a new in the box 130' Walther's DCC Turntable for a 100 bucks at an Estate sale. It is however the earlier version with the supposed issues. I have tested this one and it appears to work fine. So to the quandary. Leave the Bowser in and finish it up or replace it with the Walther's.
dcc direct via wlan
hello "electronic specialists"
here is a link (via google translate) - just to give a bid of new ammonition to the "direct dcc"-theme.
("trickle"-charging continously automatically via rail is included).
it is written by my best friend "rast" ( = ralf stass).

Questions on the Proto Throttle
So, before I finally break down and purchase a Proto Throttle, I have a few questions I probably missed here previously. One question is, I know I need the receiver for my NCE system, and I’m running the PowerCab with an SB5 booster, so does the receiver get connected directly to the SB5, as this is now my command station? I assume you can connect the receiver to an SB5?
