Track and electrical/DCC

How do you power your layout?
I am in the process of building a modular point-to-point layout with several modules that wind around the room.
I currently have a few witched power strips located around the room that wall warts and other power hungry utilities plug into like lights and such.
When I start up I have to go to each power strip and turn it on, them when I am done I have to do the reverse.
I just saw a video where he wires up electrical outlet boxes and daisy chains them from one module to the other and has a main power switch at one end.
Creating a simple ambient photo-transistor trigger circuit for crossing lights.
I am trying to find a simple ambient light photo transistors circuit to trigger led railroad crossing lights. Something like the easydetect model train detection circuit.
What's up with DCC Specialties?
Their internet domain has apparently expired, or at least it does not seem to be registered to anyone any longer... They seem to still be in business as Walthers shows quite a few of their items as "in transit." Their stuff does seem to be in stock at lots of places, which also suggests that they're still in business.
athearn MP15 headlight
DCC help please...I have an Athearn Genesis MP15, not sure if it was new or used when purchased at a show, looked new, ran great still does, but cant seem to get the headlight to go on...It did work when I first ran it I am sure its not the bulb, (or could it be) I use NCE any suggestions ??
mod podge
So if Mod podge (matte) is simply just watered down PVA (Elmer's) does anyone know the percentage? and why water Mod Podge down even more to ballast track scenery etc? It take a good while to dry, does it secure things down enough? Also heard that Woodland scenics Scenic cement is the same watered down PVA...and then there's the Matte Medium by scenery Express...Is all just the same ?? different name different concentrations?
Electrical Pick Up
I am trying to light a car using DCC track power. I have tried to install wipers from Richmond Controls, but I am having a problem keeping the wipers connected to the wheel axles. Does anyone have a method to insure good contact, or other suggestion?
Atlas Custom Line #6's vs ME #6's
Hello all. A move to a new house is finally happening in July. And with that a full basement. Plenty of room to build my 12 by 16 layout.
I have plenty of Atlas #6 turnouts and flex track, but I'm thinking I would eventually like to move to ME #6's. Buying 1 or 2 at a time and swapping them out. But I have heard that ME6's are actually close to 5.5, so a direct swap might not work, without having to re-lay connecting track.
So I am wondering if anyone else did the same thing and can tell me how doable it is. What sort of problems did you run into, if any.
glueing ballest
Getting close to ballast and glue rest of track...I have had opinions on Elmer's white glue 3 to 1 w water, and I have heard modpodge matte 1 to 3 ...to those of you that have tried both, Which is quieter???? or am I over thinking it??
