PROBLEMS with MRC 1300-series DC controllers

I saw this posted on another forum,...where a fellow experience a burned up decoder on a BLI blueline loco

Decoder rookie story if you are bored

I have to say I got one good thing out of Covid year one, and that is during the time when we were admonished to stay home unless "essential" (I am not), I cleared off an L shaped shelf in the garage and set up all the track and cars from the old footlocker that used to only see the light of day at Christmas. I was once an MRH subscriber and collector of all editions of the online mag until a catastrophic electronic event caused me to lose everything. MRH was the cornerstone of my lifestyle as a virtual modeler during the years of moving often.

Bringing wiring to the front Fascia

Does anyone know whether this a thing ..bringing the wiring to front of the fascis for ease of access and also can Wiring be a model with structure style flexiblilty for changing and thought it would be good for me to easily teach grand kids about how the train layout is powered but it may how me to remember what i have under there. I have just been playing around with a few ideas. What do you think?

Arduino Power Bus?????????

So, I'm installing a power bus (no data transfer) for Arduino, et. al. and would like to mix both Uno and Nano building lighting and other functions. Uno will accept 3-12 volts (and regulate) while the Nano accepts 6-20 volts (and regulate). Also want to use Trinket which is 3-6 volts. (voltages corrected with an edit to this post)

My question is, can I run a 6 volt bus to power all types of devices, or should I run two separate ones. One 6 volt for the Trinket and a 9 volt for Unos and Nanos? What are the drawbacks to using only one?

LokSound F8 key - Startup/Shutdown

I had decided after doing research, trying a couple different decoders and also seeing another modelers equipment on standardizing on SoundTraxx specifically Tsunami 2's. Obvious reason being is that each manufacturer has different features that make mixing consists somewhat challenging as well as the functions mapped, etc..

which resistor for leds

I am wanting to convert my locomotives to led lights. I am not sure which resistor to use for 3mm 3v 20ma leds.

I am running dcc with digitrax system and decoders which of these 2 resistors should be used if either?

1k 1/4 watt

750k 1/2 watt

Thanks for info, I am looking at getting items in bulk to build lights as needed for all locos

Tsunami 2 Wiring Help

Hi, could use some advice with wiring a TSU-1100. The decoder came with a 1A Motor Stall Current capacitor, the wiring diagram says “optional”...not sure what that means?

And if needed, the wiring diagram refers to a positive and negative side...I didn’t think capacitors had polarity?

Thanks,

Tom

DCC systems using wifi or bluetooth? Cell or tablet as controller?

I have been acquiring some On30 locos and rolling stock to add several shortlines to an O gauge (MTH/Lionel) upcoming layout build.  Both MTH/Lionel have control systems that allow the use of an IOS device as the controller.

I have never been a DCC user before,  Would appreciate some advice on a DCC system that could also be linked up to my iPad to run the short lines when they are ready.

decoders?

well after i told myself no more rtr locos, i had to buy another athearn rtr loco. BUT

now do i need to buy a compleat decoder? or one that just plugs into the multi pin on top of the factory unit?

soundtraxx wants to sell me one and a speaker as a second item. full replacement of the factory item.

the pins on top of the factory board. is this to plug in a athearn only item?
