Track and electrical/DCC
Brass track vs. nickle silver
I need assistance/advice on purchasing track for my upcoming layout.
I have been searching ebay quite a bit recently and have noticed quite a bit of brass track being sold at very low prices, while NS track seems harder to come by. I know that the NS track looks more realistic than the brass since it can be painted and weathered and have the proper appearance.
I currently have all DC engines. I have also already searched the forum for answers as well but didnt see much on the subject.

using telephone wiring. yes or no?
Anyone using telephone wiring for thier layout for dc & ac? Having 4 colored wires in a single jacket makes sense, but does it work ok? Dc voltage is 14 volts correct? And ac voltage is 19? Would telephone wiring work ok? my shelf layout will be modular. Or should I stick with 20 gauge seperate wiring instead? what gauge is telephone? 24?
looking for suggestions before I build it.
Thanks.

Electrical couplers for Multiple Unit Cars?
I would like to be able to electrically connect my MU cars together so that the whole train picks up power.
My MU cars consist of mostly Imperial Hobby Productions Arrow IIIs and Arrow IIs, with some silverliners.
Space on the bottom of the MU is limited, and i don't think i could have a coupler and an electrical plug running between cars at the same time (except for between the "A" and "B" car of the married pairs).

Turntable rail
Recently bought a Walters kit HO 90' turntable (rail supplied by me) and wondering what tips anyone can give for track alignment.
Two questions...
Ok, so I have two questions for ya'll...one regarding bachmann ez track and the other regarding old DC engines...
Has anyone ever successfully tried removing the track and ties from the ez track roadbed by chance, and if so what is involved in doing so? I can see what look like rivets on the bottom of it that would need cut off, but I am curious of they are glued on as well.

Unitrack switches
Is it compulsory to purchase the relative Kato part to operate the Kato unitrack switches or is there an alternative method. I have Peco motors and there's 3 wires for the operation of the switch.I note that there's only 2 wires out of the Kato switch.Sorry but I can't figure out how to operate these switches using the same method as for the Peco. Any ideas please

Want Sound, But No DCC
Being a model railroader, I really enjoy the sounds of real trains especially GP 40's. The thing is, I don't have a DCC system of the money for a system but I really want sounds for my layout. I know MRC has a sound system but not specific sounds for locos like GP 40's, SD-70I's, and ES44DC's. Does anyone know of any sound systems for me?

Starting over, best DCC for me?
First and foremost, let me say that at this point I am not interested in RailPro or radio control systems in general. The Tam Valley system is interesting and something I would like to experiment with, but right now I don't see myself investing in it for every model, even if I could find the space and money (which I can't). While I am not opposed to the concept of systems other than DCC, it would take a lot to convince me that the investment in a different system is worthwhile and wise over the long term.
The situation at the moment:
