Track and electrical/DCC

For some of you 'Arduino-ites'
Ran across this article HERE (Engadget) today and though a couple of you Arduino experts might see some usefulness for this in our hobby.

Has anyone tried the new BlueRail Communications Board
Have been following this new product but am to timid too be an initial guinea pig.
Also I am waiting for the Android app to arrive. I will be using it with existing DCC decoders and DCC power on rails but control will not be through my existing NCE SB3a which will eventually become just a booster power source if this really works. Eliminates the cost and hassle of radio control throttles.
For my current 2 foot by 11 plank railroad that usually sees only one loco in steam at a time it appears to be an adequate solution.

Looking for a person to build a Hand laid Switch for our club (Wauconda IL)
My club was formed over 40 years ago and the entire layout was built with hand laid track. Over the years as track repair has been needed some hand made switches and track have been removed and replaced with ready made switches. This was done if the old switch was just to unreliable and due to the fact that good track builders are getting harder to find. The issue we have is that we have one switch that we think is between a #6 and a #8. its also has a diamond located just off the thru route. the switch has a very slight curve to it as well.

Team Digital BlocD8 Issue
Anyone use this device? I bought one and plugged it into my Loconet. It immediately conflicted with my SE8c used for detection and signals. I can not operate any turnout that is controlled by the SE8c be it push button or on my JMRI panel. the turnouts do not operate. When I unplugged the BlocD8 the turnouts started to work again.
Thinking that the BlocD8 uses the same default sensor numbers as the SE8c defaults to (#s1-8)

Resistor value for eBay street lights
http://www.ebay.com/itm/401058409409?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPage...
I got some of these cheapos off of eBay and I probably hate electronic design more than anything else. The add says these work off of 3V at 20mA. My power supply is likely going to be some kind of wall wort I have picked up at a garage sale for cheap. I think I have some that are like 6V.
So, If I take 3V and subtract it from 6V, I get 3V with a mA of 20... (V= I*R) which is 3/0.02 = 150 Ohms, right?
Dead section of track why???
Ok having an issue that is really stumping me as to why. You see I have a double track figure 8 with a Kato double cross over to make things interesting. Anyways everything was working fine up until I started to build the southwest mountain in one portion of the loop. I have all the track soldered and have since gone back and cleaned any paint over spray that might have been there. For some reason there is one section of the track that is dead as a door nail. No power nothing.
MRC sound decoder challenge
Trials and travails. I saw a sale and bought some MRC sound decoders. Did the first install in an Aethern Genesis DCC ready loco and life was wonderful Then I tried a couple of Atlas GP40s that were not DCC ready. Did the first install. Tested before soldering and everything worked so I soldered it up. Loco wouldn't move anymore. Tested the decoder and I had power coming in across the terminals but no power across the terminals to the motor. Drat, am I bad at soldering. So we try the next engine and decoder. I am careful, testing at every step, shrink wrap the connections.
installing sound in a Kato HO NW2
Has anyone recently tried to install sound in a Kato HO NW2? I did this some years ago using a Digitrax SDN144. The whole installation was a bear due to the N scale style of frame construction (split frame) & total lack of space but it did work. The Digitrax decoder eventually failed and I'm hoping that there is a newer small decoder that would work better. Never was too excited about the Digitrax one I had.
Any advice?
Thanks.

HO Code 70 #5 Turnouts (where to buy?)
Hi, I did a search and only came up nothing. I am looking for code 70 #5 turnouts and a couple curved turnouts. Searching online I only found Cream City turnouts tha makes them, he does them custom and they look good. Has anyone had experience with Cream City Turnouts? Anyone know of someone else that builds them? Any info helps-
Thanks,
Martin
Finish for Hand-Laying Track
hey there, I'm building my first HO layout with handlaid track for real (I did some experiments about 20 years ago, but they're not going to count). I have a number of questions that I don't have good answers for yet.
