Track and electrical/DCC

Buttons are the most costly part of DCC
The human interface with DCC control is now the single most expensive part of the system. Small quantity production = costly.
(You could correctly state the labor of creating excellent sound files is also expensive, let’s leave that aside for now)
The electronics can be inexpensive commodity items like Arduinos or R-Pi and the code is free, but…

Fast Tracks and Headties
The attached photo is a screen grab from one of the videos on their site.
After you've assembled one of the turnouts and you've determined what side the switch stand is going to be on, are you supposed to trim the ties on the other side? So, if the switch stand is going on the ties in the upper part of the photo, would I trim the ties on the bottom where the red line is, flush with the adjoining ties?
Thanks,
Charles

Fitting a Keep Alive into a Locomotive
Hello all, I've done some looking and some emailing, but I haven't gotten a good answer on whether or not I'd be able to fit a Soundtraxx Current Keeper or a TCS KA2 in the body of my Athearn Genesis GP15-1 with a Tsunami decoder or my Athearn Genesis GP38-2 with a Tsunami decoder. I'm pretty sure I can fit the smaller TCS KA1 under there, but If possible, I'd prefer something larger with a bit more capacity seeing as how I tend to run my equipment at a crawl.

Ideas for manual turntable indexing?
Has anyone created positive indexing for a manual turntable? I am looking for some sort of indent or spring clip, to avoid moving a lever or plate by hand each time it aligns with a track.
dropping voltage
I have a LED light that only needs 3.3 volts to operate. What do I need to do to drop the voltage down from 14 volt output of MRC dual power controller?
Do I just need a couple resistors, and if so what kind, or do I need something else???
Decoder install /instructions/ESU website
A couple questions here while I jump between projects. I started searching for and reading instruction manuals for installing sound decoders. Specifically I have the Loksound select direct for one of my older Kato RS-2's. I have not found a step by step video so far to do the install. Usually in the video the decoder is installed and they talk about the lights and speaker install.
Railpro questions?
Hi all, Looking at my SHS S scale sw-9 and thinking about putting a sound decoder in it. It has a speaker already and an NMRA plug so was thinking about using a Soundtrax Economi 2 amp. which looks like it should fit and handle the load. Was also wondering about the Ring railpro system and if their sound decoders are as small as the soundtraxx and if they can handle an equivalent load( and be compatible with the existing speaker)? I'm also wondering what the limitations of the Ring power supply is?

Grade crossing controllers and Digitrax BDL168
Hi chaps,
I'm on the lookout for a decent grade crossing controller that can work with the Digitrax BDL168 occupancy detector. Most of the main grade crossing controllers seem to use optical sensors, but as I already have block detection in place it makes sense to make use of that.
DCC advise - Digitrax
I'm gently bugging a friend to make the jump from DC to DCC. He has a moderate size layout in a room roughly 16 by 14, an around the room design with a switching peninsula. He probably will be running at most 6 engines at any one time (HO). I'm not sure about sound, but lets say he wants it.
