Values for SMD Resistors for LED Lighting
I"m considering using SMD 0805 Resistors for my LED DCC locomotive lighting. I will place the resistors in-line with the LED.
My questions is simple, I think. What rating should I be using for the ohms and the watts? System is Digitrax, so around13-14volts at the track, so 12-13 volts at the LED electrical pad??

Mike

DCC Question
Having made a switch from HO to N scale I have 2 choices of control. First off I have 5 locos picked up over the last 20 yrs. Kato 2-8-2, Life Like S1 or S2 Both date from the late 90's. Kato U30 about the same age, Mantua 2-8-2 fairly new I believe, and an Atlas SD7? age unknown.
They all run ok on a Tech 2 power supply.
I also have a 20+ yr old Digitrax system that seems to keep on working also. Can I use the Digitrax with these locos without killing the motors or is the Tech 2 a better choice?
MRC TECH II 1500 question
When connectying my turnout switch machines to my power supply (MRC Tech II 1500), do I connect them to the "Fixed DC" terminal?
I understand that "Variable DC" is for powering my track.
Thanks.
DC WIRING SCHEMATIC FOR ATLAS TURNOUT MACHINES
I am wiring my N scale layout with DC, rather than DCC, for reasons I will not go into here.
I am using Code 80 N scale Atlas turnouts on my layout. I am going to control the turnout machines with SPST momentary switches connected to a DC transformer.
Does anyone have a proven wiring schematic for Code 80 Atlas turnouts they can share? I want to be sure that I get everything wired properly.
Thanks.
"DCC ON" or "POWER ON" sign
So, looking to the wisdom of the masses here for suggestions.... I want to have a visible indication (outside the train room) of when my DCC system is on. Something plugged in to the power strip that my DCC is plugged into, so I was thinking 120 volts, although a 12 volt light powered by a wall wart plugged into the power strip would work.
I searched on line for a "Power On" sign, but didn't find anything. Think of signs like "On Air" or similar, like you'd see at a recording studio.
Best train control app
Hi, I down loaded the Engine Driver app, And well I'm not sure I like the control, Maybe I just need to get used to it, So I was wondering if anyone has a App that they like ?

Weird short of the day...
This one has me baffled for the moment. Digitrax system, track that has been running fine, but hasn't been used in a little while due to construction. Right where the gaps are cut separating two power districts, when the locomotive wheels bridge those gaps, it shorts not only those two districts, but the other two on that PM42 as well. Cars with metal wheels pass over just fine. Now, if I manually short rail A, with two locomotives in the one power district, only one of them shuts down. If I manually short Rail B, both locomotives shut down.
DCC Sound on Static Display Model
Hey there folks, just trying to pick some of your expert brains on the best way to accomplish what i want to do...
'Im building a display model to celebrate the retirement of a UP Engineer. An SD70MAC, or an ES44AC on a display stand of ballasted track. I want to include lights and sounds activated by push button(S), startup, engine run up, notch 8, shut down you get the idea...

Tinned Copper vs. Copper wire for DCC.
OK, I'm not going to ask which to use for DCC stranded or solid, but a friend of mine gave me a bunch of stranded wire, both 14 and 22 gauge.
I noticed when I stripped the ends, the wire is tinned copper vs. copper.
Is it OK to use this type of wire for DCC ?
Thanks in advance.
Bill.

MRC DCC
My MRC Prodigy Express DCC System has been in storage for about 4 years.
I am now wiring it up and I have a problem.
Nothing is working on it.
When I plug it in, the Pilot and the Link lights are both flashing.
Not sure what the problem is.
Any help would be appreciated.
